Homophobes Loosing Ground or Quiet Before Storm?

Put away the placards and posters. Hold off on the letter-writing campaigns and frantic phone banking. And pull out your best funereal black: It’s time to mourn the death of Oregon’s anti-gay agenda.
Well, maybe. This is the first general election summer in 24 years that queer and allied Oregonians aren’t huddled in anxious strategy meetings or casting a nervous eye on a string of circulating rights-stripping petitions. Why? Because no anti-gay initiatives are on the docket nor are brutal gay attack ballot measures planned. On the Oregon queer rights front this summer, all seems fairly calm.
