Tatchell Leads Protest at Anglican Conference

Tatchell Leads Protest at Anglican Conference

Gay rights campaigners gathered earlier at the Lambeth Conference as Anglican bishops from around the globe discussed the issue of homosexuality.

Members of the Lesbians and Gay Christian movement, led by human rights activist Peter Tatchell, waved posters in front of a 40-foot banner with the words “Stop crucifying queers” written on it. It would appear however, the protest went largely unnoticed by the 670 Anglican bishops attending the conference.

The group stood gathered at the University of Kent in Canterbury where a large number of African bishops spent the afternoon in discussions. Unfortunately, the bishops exited at a different site so they did not witness the protest.
