Mormons for Gay Marriage Use Internet
August 23, 2008 by James Hipps
The Mormon Church (LDS) supports the ban of gay marriage, however some of the church members are talking support FOR gay marriage, and they are doing so on the Internet. The internet gives them a place to say what they are not able to express inside church walls.
Laura Compton, a MormonsforMarriage.com contributor says church members needed a place to discuss the issue of gay marriage and share thoughts and information. MormonsforMarriage comes from faithful members and not an anti-Mormons source, stated Compton.
This is just one of many websites that have been posted on line since June, when church leaders asked it’s California members to give their time and money to help pass Proposition 8. The ballot initiative would amend California’s constitution to take away Gay’s right to marriage.
A church spokeswoman says LDS leaders believe the majority of Mormons understand the church’s teachings and issues that surround the gay marriage, but admits that some members see the issue differently.
