Polls Show Cali Supports Gay Marriage

Polls Show Cali Supports Gay Marriage

According to recent a recent poll by the Public Policy Institute of California, it would appear a majority of California voters are in opposition to Proposition 8, which is a ballot measure that would take away the right for gay to marry.

If passed, the Proposition will prohibit the same-sex marriage, which was deemed legal earlier this year by the California Supreme Court.

According to Mark Baldassare, President and CE of the Public Policy Institute of California;

The discrepancy between voters’ general attitudes against gay marriage and their position on banning it could be explained by a hesitancy to remove a constitutional right.

54 percent of those polled oppose ending gay marriage, and 40 percent who support the ban. The results of this poll are very similar to the results of a Field Poll (#2278) held in July, which showed 51 percent opposed ending gay marriage, while 42 percent said they supported the ban.

    It’s disappointing to learn of fellow Americans who would stoop to peddling lies to support their position. Google “Six Consequences if Proposition 8 Fails” … these are six totally false talking points that the “Yes on 8″ campaign is trying to use to fire up their target voters. Anyone who bothers to study the issue will quickly learn that these six “consequences” are total fabrications and sad examples of ugly fearmongering from the “Yes on 8″ campaign. Shame.
