For the War and For Gay Marriage?

For the War and For Gay Marriage?

I stumbled across a website, republicansagainst8.com.  This, as you may have guessed it, is a website with higher profile Republicans who have taken a stand against Proposal 8, which means, they support gay marriage.

On the surface, it would appear, these Republicans are truly reaching out to the GLBT community and are in full support of our equal rights.  However, something about this perplexed me to the point where I had put a little more thought into it.  Now, one reason I suppose republicans would support gay marriage, could be because they do believe in equal rights….but, one also could be green.  It’s no secret that gay marriage has been a epidemic boost to the California economy, so why wouldn’t a republican support gay marriage.  Also, I found one quote that just sent shivers up my spine.  Dennis Miller, the republican comedian said;

I’m for the war, but I’m also for gay marriage.

Now it really makes me wonder.  Do these same Republicans who oppose proposition 8, and seemingly support the war, also support the repeal of “don’t ask don’t tell” which would allow gays and lesbians to openly serve in the military?

Conspiracy theory:  Republicans who support the war and gay marriage would like to see us (the GLBT community) go fight the war in iraq for them.  Then perhaps the death toll wouldn’t be quite so bad?  What do you think?
