Maddow Fails to Buck Huckabee on GLBT Rights

Even though Rachel Maddow has expressed her strong opinions on how wrong it was for Californians to take away a “right that already existed” by passing Proposition 8, she failed to take advantage of cornering Mike Huckabee on the issue. This seems somewhat surprising, especially after Huckabee stated on “The View” Wednesday that gay rights didn’t equate to civil rights because no gay people have had their “skulls cracked open”, but instead chastised the GLBT community or terrorizing old ladies.
I wonder which news he watches…perhaps Fox?
Remarkable that he would say no gays have had “their skulls cracked open.” Are there now criteria for “type of damage” to constitute a hate crime… simply shooting us doesn’t count anymore? Times are changing and will change and someday Huckabee will be cited as the bad guy like Cecil Price.
“because no gay people have had their ’skulls cracked open’” Oh, is that what he specifically wants? Gays have been tortured, attacked with broken bottles, and executed. A week ago, a man was shot for the sole reason that he was gay. While this does not measure up to the oppression blacks faced in the past, gay people are still facing considerable injustice in present America: hate, not being able to marry, and death. They are fighting for their rights- it’s that simple.
Don’t get me started on this man who hasn’t a clue as to what the constitution is about. He may have a law degree, god only knows how he got that. He reiminds me of some of the bigots who run the State of Mississippi. They are pretty much former KKK members turned political suits all in the name of making a better fashion statement. The agenda is still the same. All I can say for this ill informed gentleman,is “his mouth will drop in 2010 and that wont be the result of the popular vote.We have found that the way to the top is not by climbing up the ladder but just busting through the front door. They will get the message when they get their pink slips. This is the ultimate game of chess. A game he knows nothing about.
