Anti-Gay Teen Boot Camp Asks Bush for $500,000

A faith-based program, backed by George W. Bush, is seeking half a million dollars to continue it’s work.  Minnesota Teen Challege, a Pentecostal drug and alcohol abuse treatment program, claims to help teenagers overcome dependency by recruiting youngsters into the Assemblies of God ministry.  They claim teens can be cured of their addiction through endoctrination into the church.  According to the group, “addiction is a sin, NOT a disease!”

The tax-free evangelical program, who again is seeking $500,000.00 of tax dollars, works closely with  Exodus International, the self proclaimed ex-gay therapy group that believes you can “pray away the gay.”

The Official Teen Challenge Student Handbook instructs students to “conduct themselves in a manner pleasing to God” and strictly forbids any “homosexual behavior”, as being gay, along with addiction, is a sin. Teen Challenge also speaks out against anyone who celebrates Halloween.  The group claims, “Halloween is a day set up totally for Satan.  The more people who go out dressed as demons, ghost, witches and goblins, the more glory Satan receives.”

Those youths who are entered into the program, but won’t adhere to it, are deprived food until they come around.

And George W. Bush thinks this is a good use of your tax dollars!
