Couple Attacked – Next, SUV is Torched
January 14, 2009 by James Hipps
John and Larry Charlton were hospitalized in September of 2008 after they were brutally beaten while walking through their Columbus, Ohio neighborhood in what is being considered a possible hate-crime, as the suspected motivation behind the attach is the couples sexuality.
The couple, who have been together more than seven years, stated the attack started shortly after a group of men shouted out a gay slur towards them.
Larry stated;
“Next thing I know, one of them’s on (John’s) back, whooping on him. I pulled that guy off. He turned around and smashed me a couple times in the head and knocked me down. Then three more guys were on top of John.”
The two have not been very public about the attack, but Columbus police have urged the men to come forward with their story after their SUV was set on fire Tuesday morning.
Yet Mike Huckabee still thinks gay people haven’t suffered enough to deserve equality. I wonder if Mike Huckabee has ever been attacked for walking down the street in his neighborhood?
