Khalil Amani: An Ally in Hip-Hop & Beyond

My friend and colleague, Khalil Amani, who is a major contributor to HoodGrown – A Different Type of Hip Hop Magazine, and who has contributed to gayagenda.com, and it the spiritual advisor to Out Hip-Hop is making his mark even bigger as he continues his efforts as an advocate for equality and a ally to the LGBT community.  Amani was recently interviewd by the LA Times where he states;

“Homophobia is ingrained in the African American community because of the church’s teachings, but voices like Kanye epitomize the new generation, who aren’t as concerned about macho posturing. He’s a bridge between old and new. How many other rap artists are willing to stop their concert at Madison Square Garden and tell their fans to stop being homophobic?”

Make sure you read the rest of this amazing interview, from this amazing artist at the LA Times!
