What Happens After the World Knows?
February 24, 2009 by James Hipps
After Chris Buttars reared his ugly head and came out with his bigoted statements of hate, the Utah Senate surprisingly took two hours out of their schedule yesterday and stopped working as Republicans privately met to discuss Buttars’ recent comments that gay people haven’t any morals and that gay activists are equal to radical Muslims as some of America’s greatest threats.
It was reported not one bill was debated in the Utah state Senate Monday morning, which created a backlog of bills that may never become law because now the state’s lawmakers haven’t enough time to approve them before their 45-day session ends.
Utah’s Senate President, Michael Waddoups removed Buttars from a judiciary committee he chaired after the remarks were made. Buttars has a reputation of taking pride in the chair as he frequently used the position kill legislation that would provide equality to LGBT citizens…the same citizens that help pay his salary.
Waddoups said the reason he removed Buttars from chairing the committee is because the issue has become a distraction, not as a punishment for what Buttars said. Waddoups also stated his colleagues agree with many of Buttars’ statements.
So there we have it, Utah’s Republicans, (again, Republicans) have come out of the closet as haters and bigots, and seem to be pretty proud of it. The real threat to America is being un-American! The real threat to America is ignorance and hate. The real threat to America are those who use power to oppress a group of citizens, citizens who contribute more good to America than their oppressors.
So, what happens now? A national call to oust these bigots MUST be set in motion. If the state of Utah can be a key player in whether or not same-sex marriage in California, then the rest of the country can play a key role in getting this scum out of office!
It is time for Buttars, Sally Kern, and all the others who openly hate, to leave office. The time is NOW!
Let’s act people!

Are we noticing a global trend in the republican party? They continue to represent themselves as anything but fiscally conservative and focus solely on “conservative,” archaic beliefs that are damaging our legal system.
I wish I could say I’m surprised.
