Michael Jackson Dies at Age 50
June 25, 2009 by James Hipps
Michael Jackson died Thursday afternoon (June 25) at the age of 50 after suffering cardiac arrest, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Reports say the legendary pop singer suffered cardiac arrest at his home in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Holmby Hills and was not breathing and had no pulse when paramedics arrived after a 911 call around 12:26 p.m. PT. They administered CPR in the ambulance but were unable to revive him. At the hospital, staff attempted to resuscitate Jackson, but he was unresponsive.
Wow, this really saddens me. This makes the second legendary entertainer to pass today. I know that in his more recent life, Michael has been highly criticized for his eccentric (perhaps putting it mildly) life, but I clearly remember as a very young child, putting on those 45’s my parents and older siblings had collected and dancing along with all those wonderful old Jackson 5 songs. I also remember distinctly when “Off the Wall” came out and even though I was young, it was my first “boy” crush. I remember getting that LP for my birthday and spending countless hours listening as I looked at the cover. I thought he was the cutest boy I had ever laid eyes upon.
Michael Jackson, through all his ups and downs, was one of the all time great entertainers. I know I will miss him, and I’m sure many others will as well. May your journey be blessed Michael! This is a very sad day.
