Obama Asks to Be Judged on Promises Kept

Obama Asks to Be Judged on Promises Kept

In front of a group of LGBT Americans, President Obama defended his policies on LGBT rights stating he remains committed to overturning “don’t ask, don’t tell”. He also asked that he be judged “not by promises I’ve made but by the promises that my administration keeps.”

Yesterday the President and his wife held a reception at the White House to observe the Stonewall riots of 1969, the LGBT uprising that led to the modern day Gay Rights Movement.

President Obama stated:

“I know that many in this room don’t believe progress has come fast enough, and I understand that. It’s not for me to tell you to be patient any more than it was for others to counsel patience to African-Americans who were petitioning for equal rights a half-century ago. We’ve been in office six months now. I suspect that by the time this administration is over, I think you guys will have pretty good feelings about the Obama administration.”

I for one haven’t ever lost faith in the change that President Obama promised to bring fourth.  I am however a realist, and know, the old cliche “change doesn’t happen overnight”, is an old cliche for a reason, it’s the truth, and it’s rediculous to think otherwise.

Watch a video of the reception below:

Some things are too important to wait. 266 lives have be changed forever by DADT since O has taken office. Those are the ones we know of. We may never know of the toll in psychological damage occuring to LGB active duty service members.
Another old addage: “The squeaky wheel gets the grease.” Truman signed an executive order. And the generals got used to it. Obama could do the same.

I think its about time people realize that if a person is going to put his or her life on the line, in defence of our country and our freedoms, then that person should be given the right to be honest and open about who they are and what they believe.

President Obama is keeping the promises he made. During the 2008 Logo TV debate, candidate Obama promised preachers that he would make sure they did not have to perform same-sex wedding ceremonies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73oZ_pe1MZ8

Those preachers then told their flocks to vote for Prop Hate in California, and they did in record numbers, joing the rest of the tyrannical heterosupremacist majority.

He obviously put his hand on the American constitution and swore to uphold the bronze age sun rotates around the flat earth bible. Otherwise he would be the commander in chief and uphold the second amendment rights of gay and lesbian Americans to join a well organized militia and stop discharging them from the armed service. He would stand up and lead those old white good old boys. He would not have authorized his adminstration to interfer with the judiciary stopping court cases on DADT and DOMA (Discriminatory Offensive Marriage Attack).

President Obama knows where all the money and votes are, and they are certainly not with us.
