Judge Looks for Quick Action on Prop 8

U.S. District Chief judge Vaughn Walker, a federal judge located in San Francisco, California has stated he wants full trial on the lawsuit seeking to overturn California’s Prop 8 to be conducted because he expects the case will make it’s way up to the U.S. Supreme Court.

During his first hearing on the challenge to Proposition 8, Walker asked lawyers representing both sides of the case to bring forth the issues they agree on and those they feel would need to be determined by a trial resolution.

Walker also rejected the request to suspend Prop 8 while the case proceeds in court, but has stated he will attempt to fast track the case because of its seriousness.

Walker has instructed lawyers on both sides to report back to him in writing no later than August 7th.
