Canadians Love Their Gay Marriage

September 15, 2009 by Gay Agenda News Team

A new survey shows that Canadian citizens overwhelmingly support same-sex marriage, showing up both the United States and Great Britain on the issue of equal rights. Perhaps that’s not surprising, given that Canada is one of the largest countries in the world that has legalized same-sex marriage. But still, when it comes to a commitment to equality, Canada is leading the way.

The survey, conducted by polling firm Angus Reid, found that young people are leading the way when it comes to the issue of marriage equality. In Canada, a whopping 73 percent of people ages 18-34 support same-sex marriage, while only 7 percent oppose it. That’s huge! We’re guessing that not even cuddly puppies or chocolate receive that high of an approval rating.

Unless, of course, it’s cuddly chocolate puppies involved in a same-sex marriage!

    GO Canada!

YES! I got married in Canada and plan on retiring there, giving up my US citizenship and becoming a real human being with no looking back at the violent, anti-gay, regligionist Americans.

One of the most surprising things about Canada, is where you will find support for gay rights.

The first time my (now) husband and I walked into the Church where we were to get married, we knew no one. We were strangers in that church. yet, people came to us with open arms, hugging us and welcoming us.

We even sat in a pew during mass, holding hands, and the man next to us (who must have been at least in his 70’s if not more) smiled at us the whole time, and was one of the first people to take us by the arm and literally DRAG us into the meeting hall where there was a party after mass.

We live in a tiny rural community, around 3000 inhabitants. It’s a farming community, and when people found out we wanted to get married, well, they were all asking why we were going to the next village (which has a United Church congregation) instead of getting married in our town and its (Roman Catholic) church. Isn’t that funny? These are all roman catholics.. and even THEY see nothing wrong with gay marriage. They don’t even stop to think that their own church is so homophobic. They were all taken aback when we had to remind them that the RC church doesn’t accept gays.

I believe this is undeniable PROOF that while the RC hierarchy may be obstinately medieval in its stance on homosexuality, the congregants themselves are FAR more “modern” and inclusive.
