More from the Right Wing Tea…That is Douche-Baggers

September 16, 2009 by James Hipps

One thing I was taught when I was growing up was to not worry about what others think about you. I was always told that if others speak poorly about you there’s not much you can do about that…other than live your life so no one will believe them.

I sincerely hope President Obama lives by that creed.

However, one thing that does bother me, is wheat others think of our nation. Even though there are many who are spending tens of millions of dollars to keep me as a second class citizen based upon my sexual orientation, I am proud to be American. I still get chills when I hear the star spangled banner and filled with a sense of pride on the 4th of July.

But there are people out there, who insist upon making America look bad in the eyes of others. There behavior is inexcusable and immature, and oddly enough, they are the “privileged” ones, who have never felt the hurt of discrimination, have never done without. They have no idea what “white” privilege is about, nor do they seem to care. They are the ones who really do have an “agenda”, and that agenda is the real abomination.

On several occasions, I have, and with a certain degree of criticism, accused the right-wing nuts of this country who participate in their protest and tea-parties of racism. I’ve been accused of being racist myself simply for implying such, but I’ve lived by the creed of not letting what other think of me affect my life. I truly live so no one believes them.

But, now, there are those, from other countries, who see the racism as well, and unfortunately, I do worry that the stigma of racism in this country will affect the way people look at me as an American. The very people who carry signs that read “I want my country back”, and who claim something has been taken from them, are taking pride, dignity and respect away from all Americans…which is why, I have no qualms about calling them douche-baggers.

Case in point, I ran across a blog from Australia called 2 Cents Worth Down Under which has a post entitled “Welcome to CrazyLand…Population – All US Conservative Wingnuts!”

Below is are a few excerpts:

Are they f*cking kidding?????? I think these people all have acquired brain injury and NEED some good health care. That…. or some good therapy. Clearly they stopped their meds without telling their doctors.

and -

“Impeach the Muslim Marxist” – at least his sign is spelled correctly. But (A) President Obama isn’t Muslim and (B) he isn’t a Marxist and (C)… here’s the important one… you can’t impeach a f*cking President that’s done nothing wrong you chromosome deficient wanker!!

and -

I am literally stunned sh*tless by the level of sheer ignorance of the right in America nowadays. I’ve said it already but I will say it again – these people REALLY don’t like being told what to do by a Black Man.

Now I have to say, if I feel that racism is one of the biggest causes of this “right wing uprising”, and the element of racism is apparently visible to others who don’t even live in the U.S., then there’s a pretty good chance that I’m correct in my assumption.  Even former President Jimmy Carter stated yesterday that Rep. Joe Wilson’s “You lie!” outburst last week was “based on racism” and that an “overwhelming portion” of similar demonstrations against President Obama are rooted in bigotry.

What do you think? Take a look at the pictures that were posted on the Aussie site and the poll below to let us know!

I’m not sure I would cry “racism” when faced with the sort of idiocy we are seeing here (the previous video, and these pictures).

There’s a blissful ignorance that seems to settle over these crowds of right-wing nutcases.

I saw an interview with an anti-Obama, anti-healthcare protester, and all he kept repeating was that the bank bailouts and the auto industry bailouts that Obama had put into place were costing the taxpayer too much.

When you stand back for a second, you realize, these people have VERY short attention spans, and VERY short term memories. Both of those bailouts were put into place by George W. Bush.

As a matter of fact, a LARGE part of the problem with those bailouts – necessary as they were to preclude a total collapse of the American economy – was that George W. Bush refused to put ANY conditions or restrictions on the bailout packages.

Bush just decided to give money to a bunch of people had had just clearly demonstrated that they DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE large sums of money.

“Hey, we mishandled billions of dollars and need more money or our industry will collapse.”
“Oh, gee, well, here’s more money.”

    Sound strange?
It’s even more incomprehensible to non-Americans who stand back and watch the “leader of the free world” at the time act so irresponsibly with such immense amounts of money.

Let’s face it, the average American is completely incapable of understanding the stakes involved in these debates. Remember, “average intelligence” means that HALF the population is actually BELOW that level. And they can vote!

And you have the Dick Cheneys of the world who realize that these “not-too-bright” voters will gobble any stupidity you toss at them. Tell them that “universal health care is bad”, and they’ll believe it, without taking one second out of their dreary lives to actually THINK about what it promises instead.

    Socialism = BAD.
    WHY ON EARTH?

It works perfectly well for just about the rest of the civilized world! The vast majority of the U.S.’ allies are socialist-democracies in some form or other.

Sorry if I’m allowing myself to rant, but… what the hell!!! I used to respect the United States. It’s gotten to a point where I just don’t know what to think anymore.

No apologies needed! I appreciate your “rant” and am happy to have the dialogue. Everything you said makes perfect sense.

I’m like you however, I just don’t know what to think anymore…perhaps that’s why I’m searching for definitive answers as to why!
