Repeal in New Hampshire Shot Down!

Repeal in New Hampshire Shot Down!

As reported earlier:

According to WCAX.com:

A House committee will recommend whether New Hampshire’s five-week-old gay marriage law should be repealed.

The Judiciary Committee also votes Tuesday whether to support a constitutional amendment banning gay unions. Gay marriage opponents know their chance of success is slim, but they want to keep the issue before voters in hopes Republicans will regain control of the Statehouse from Democrats in November and succeed then in repealing the law.

The House next acts on the recommendations.

New Hampshire became the fifth state to legalize gay marriage on Jan. 1.

So, for anyone who is still unclear on whether a majority of Republicans are the biggest threat to equality and ending discrimination, and whether or not the GOP has been kidnapped by the religious right, hopefully this will help clear things up a bit.

Update from Boston Herald:

A House committee is recommending against repealing New Hampshire’s five-week-old gay marriage law.

The Judiciary Committee also voted today to recommend that the House kill a constitutional amendment that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. The vote was 12-8 on both measures, largely along party lines led by Democratic opposition.

Gay marriage opponents know their chance of success is slim, but they want to keep the issue before voters in hopes Republicans will regain control of the Statehouse from Democrats in November and succeed then in banning gay marriage.

I am sick to death of the Republicans using our Constitutional Rights as a political football. They have had their unscientific, religiously bigoted say and now it’s time to move forward. We need to just ingore this non-sense and get on with our lives. The judiciary will be where this question eventually will be decided.

We need a constitutional amendment to ban the Republican Party.
