Uganda Gay Bill ‘Will Be Changed’

Uganda’s controversial Anti-Homosexuality Bill is likely to be changed, a minister has told the BBC.
However, Deputy Foreign Minister Henry Okello Oryem did not give details of how he thought the final bill would be different to the current proposals.
Uganda has come under intense international pressure over the bill, which provides for the death penalty for some homosexual acts.
Mr Oryem was speaking after US leader Barack Obama called the bill “odious”.
It has also been condemned by various European countries.
“I am sure the bill will take a different form when it is tabled on the floor in parliament,” Mr Oryem told the BBC’s Network Africa programme.

This bill should be killed. Period. They should be decriminalizing rather. What ijits.
No criminalization of gay people is acceptable. But that arguement is hard to make when we still punish gay people here at home with laws like DADT, DOMA and adoption prohibitions. While relatively mild, they still stigmatize and teach prejudice to the world.
But we muse oppose punishment whenever and wherever it rears its ugly head.
The religious leaders in this country that were involved with influencing this bill need to be held accountable. It’s time Americans stood up for what is right and just for all people. These individuals should not get off scott free
