A Calm Gay Pride
July 30, 2010 by James Hipps
According to various reports, even though the number of attendees were in the thousands, those who participated in Jerusalem’s longest gay pride parade remained relatively subdued as they marched on Thursday amongst anti-gay demonstrators.
The march went from the center of town to the parliament building but contrasted with more outwardly festive gay pride parades held in other parts of the world as the event organizers said they were adjusting to the religious character of the city and using the march to promote their political agenda rather than creating a party.
Perhaps it’s time for all pride marches to focus on what’s important, gaining rights instead of presenting a show?
