Right Wing TVC’s Degree of Hate is Heating Up - Way Up

Say what you will about the Traditional Values Coalition, they refuse to tone-down or in any way moderate their militantly anti-gay agenda – here they are weighing in on the right-wing boycott of McDonalds, complete with an attack on Levi Strauss for ending its funding of the Boy Scouts:

“McDonald’s has partnered with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC),” said TVC Executive Director Andrea Lafferty. “It also gave this activist group a $20,000 grant to support its efforts to influence corporate America.

“When my son bounds out of kindergarten at his school, a typical request is to go to ‘Old McDonald’s.’ It’s not about the cuisine, the first question he asks when we get there is which toy are they giving away that day. Now, we are settling for a lemonade at another restaurant because, as our son says aloud every time a McDonald’s commercial airs on television or as we drive past one, – ‘McDonald’s is bad,’” said Lafferty.

Religious Right Feeling The Heat - California or Bust!

Although its extremely doubtful the American Family Association’s founder,  Donald E. Wildmon is willing to concede in the war against gays, the failure of proposition 8 (a constitution ban against same-sex marriage) would take some wind out of his sails.

“If we lose California, if they defeat the marriage amendment, I’m afraid that the culture war is over and Christians have lost,” the Evangelical leader told columnist Bill Berkowitz. ”I’ve never said that publicly until now,” Wildmon added, “but that’s just the reality of the fact.”

Again, Proposition 8, which will appear on the November California ballot, would reverse the effects of California’s Supreme Court’s May 15th ruling, which affirmed equal protection under the state’s constitution for same-sex couples, including equal access to civil marriage. Proposition 8 would take the exact same language from Proposition 22, voted into law in 2000 and invalidated by the ruling, and write it directly into the Constitution.

The ruling confirmed California as the second state to recognize equal marriage rights, and the first to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples who reside out of state.

“California is a big dam, holding back the flood” in the “culture wars,” Wildmon asserted, “and if you take down the dam in California, it’s going to flood 49 other states.”

Secularism, he said, “will replace Christianity as the foundation of our society,” leading to a “cultural decline.”

Funny, Hate Filled Comments About McDonald’s Boycott

Political blog Wonkette has another rundown of the hate filled bile being posted on the anti-gay Boycott McDonald’s website.

In case you haven’t heard, McDonald’s extensive philanthropic activities have included supporting various gay organizations. That simply won’t do as far as the religio-fascists in the U.S. are concerned! These fine folks have decided to take time away from feeding the poor to boycott the home of the 2000 calorie Extra Value Meal, because heaven forbid even a nickel of their burger money ends up helping any Godless queers.

You Deserve A Break Today From Homophobia

Looks like the march on Big Mac was a bigger flop than the McGriddle. The AFA (American Family Association) held a demonstration outside of McDonald’s headquarters yesterday, hoping to damage the company for there support of what the AFA calls the “homosexual agenda”.

Although the attendees of the demonstration were diverse in population (there was an old lady with a walker, some middle-aged white people, and a few kids) there were only a handful of bigots and homophobes that actually showed to proclaim their hate against the chain for standing up for what they believe in….basic human rights.

The anti-gay American Family Association, which condemns gay and lesbian family causes like marriage equality, has called for a boycott of fast-food chain restaurant McDonald’s.
