Catholics Running Scared from “Bash Back”

November 13, 2008 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

As posted earlier on GayAgenda, a group identifying themselves as “Bash Back” infiltrated the anti-gay, hate mongering, bigot filled Mt. Hope church (I know this because I used to live in Lansing and they were know as the “come as you are as long as you’re not gay” church) in Lansing Michigan and caused quite a scene. Read about their hilarious demonstration by clicking here. (Oh and yes, Catholic Exchange…I did say it was hilarious).

Now, a website called the Catholic Exchange is calling for an all-out investigation of the incident and have posted email addresses to the sheriff and D.A. in hopes that people will pressure them to do something.

Now, I in no way condone violence, but considering no one was physically injured, I do have to say it made me smile just a little. Perhaps now the people who sit in that church know the fear I have felt when approached by a group of people calling me “faggot”. Perhaps now those people realize that you can’t condemn people without them fighting back.

On the Catholic website, they stated:

Catholic League president Bill Donohue addressed this issue today:

“The real story here is the refusal of the mainstream media to cover what is surely one of the most disturbing events of 2008. If an organized group of gay bashers stormed a gay church, there is not a single sentient person in the United States who wouldn’t know about it.

“This is urban fascism come to America’s heartland. It must be quickly stopped before it gets out of control. We are contacting Mike Cox, the Attorney General of Michigan, calling for an investigation.”

Please!  Get a life and stop blaming mainstream media! This is by NO means the most disturbing event of 2008.  I think the fact thousands of lives in Iraq were lost, or perhaps the number of people who died from disease and starvation, the amount of homeless there are, and how instead of using money to help combat these issues the Catholic church donated money to Prop 8 in order to keep people from being equal citizens is much more tragic!  Those events are truly disturbing.

The site also blast the Daily Kos for referring to the incident as a “funny story”.  What I find funny is how the Catholic church, who has the longest written history of corruption of any organization has the nerve to even speak about what’s acceptable behavior.

LDS Game Plan on Passing Proposition 8

August 20, 2008 by James Hipps · 1 Comment

Daily Kos has posted a letter sent from Boyd K. Packer (president of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) on July 28th to the California LDS (Mormon) stake (diocese) presidents.

Apparently, there is a plan in place to put up one million ‘Yes on 8′ yard signs at 7:00 am on September 22nd.

This letter makes clear that those walking their precincts on behalf of the ‘Yes on 8′ campaign are not doing so to persuade their neighbors, but rather to identify potential ‘Yes’ votes. As such, the precinct walking is clearly part of a standard get-out-the-vote operation, rather than an attempt to change hearts and minds.

Read the letter with the plan at DailyKos.com.
