Former Vice President Dick Cheney is recovering from a “mild heart attack,” his latest bout in a long battle against heart disease.
Cheney was feeling fine on Tuesday and probably will be sent home from a Washington hospital within a day or two, aides aid. He experienced chest pain on Monday, and lab results revealed evidence of the heart attack, spokesman Peter Long said.
“The whole family has been working with heart disease for decades, and they are vigilant and attuned to treatment,” said political consultant Mary Matalin, a friend and former counselor to Cheney.

Help Alan Grayson Insure a Healthy Future!

Gayagenda.com has joined Mike Rogers of PageOneQ in the effort to encourage folks to help support a groundbreaking member of the US House of Representatives, Congressman Alan Grayson. According to Rogers:
In a fight over what is a very important issue in the gay community, Alan Grayson has been punching back at efforts to water down health care reform. Representative Grayson is the Representative who said of the healthcare debate:
The Republican health care plan: don’t get sick. The Republicans have a back up plan in case you do get sick. This is what the Republicans want you to do. If you get sick America, the Republican health care plan is this: Die quickly!
Grayson has had a few other things to say about those who stand in the way of the progressive agenda. He called Dick Cheney a “vampire,” and said Rush Limbaugh is “one sorry excuse for a human being.”
If you can, please join Mike Rogers in helping support by spreading the word. If you are able, help by contributing at Grayson’s donation page (CLICK HERE).
Cheney Trumps Obama On Marriage? WAKE UP!
June 1, 2009 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment
OK, that didn’t take long. People all over the blogosphere are WRONGFULLY stating that the former Republican VP, Dick Cheney is more supportive of marriage equality than President Obama. Are you kidding with this??? You must be joking. Let’s set the record “straight”.
Earlier this afternoon, at the National Press Club in Washington, Dick Cheney did speak about same-sex marriage. That much is fact. However, it’s also a fact that he did not give same-sex marriage some type of endorsement. He actually didn’t say a great deal either way on the subject.
What he did say, as reported by The Chicago Tribune:
“I think that freedom means freedom for everyone. As many of you know, one of my daughters is gay, and it is something we have lived with for a long time in our family. I think people ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish — any kind of arrangement they wish.”
OK, up until now, it may seem that he is backing same-sex marriage, but then he goes on to say:
“The question of whether or not there ought to be a federal statute to protect this, I don’t support. I do believe that, historically, the way marriage has been regulated is at the state level. It has always been a state issue, and I think that is the way it ought to be handled, on a state-by-state basis.”
So, again…“The question of whether or not there ought to be a federal statute to protect this, I don’t support.
All this man said is that he has a lesbian daughter, thinks marriage should be left up to individual states, and doesn’t think the federal government should mandate equality for LGBT Americans…So how is it, that every other GLBT person that has a blog, has all of a sudden started making the claim, that Dick Cheney is more supportive of equality for LGBT citizens than President Obama? Are they completely naive, or are they simply just that stupid? I hate to be so harsh, really I do, but the thought that Dick Cheney is somehow more of an advocate for equality than President Obama is mindless and stupid.
Sure he has a lesbian for a daughter, and for eight years, what did you hear from that daughter? Here was the VP’s blood, with a golden opportunity to make a difference for EIGHT YEARS and did nothing. Now, what about Cheney himself? Here’s a VP with a lesbian daughter and what did he do? NOTHING FOR EIGHT YEARS!
Now granted, Obama said during the campaign that he believed marriage was between a man and a woman, but he never once said he didn’t think same-sex couples shouldn’t have the right to marry. Also, you have to remember, if he had openly supported marriage equality prior to the election, he would have been a martyr, which we didn’t need. We need change and progress, and since Obama has taken office (not that long ago for all you impatient people out there) we have seen more change in the short time of the Obama Administration than we saw for the entire eight years prior…WAKE UP!!!
And for those of you with amnesia, I would also like to point out that Cheney said the exact same thing about same-sex marriage on August 24th, 2004, and in that same year, he stated repeatedly that he supported President Bush’s stance on the issue, which Bush was in support of a constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriage. What Cheney said isn’t some startling revelation nor is support for same-sex marriage, it’s simply his opinion that states should have the ability to choose and the federal government should stay out of it which means, he supports a state’s right to discriminate against the LGBT community…WAKE UP!
So, for all of you who were so quick to post something so stupid…once again…WAKE UP!
