According to MotownSports.com:

McDonald’s surrenders! Boycott declared over

Family group says fast-food giant agrees not to promote ‘gay’ agenda

A corporate executive for McDonald’s restaurants who had been on board of directors of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce has stepped down following a boycott of the chain organized by the pro-family American Family Association.

McDonald’s officials confirmed today to WND that Richard Ellis, who had been named to the “gay” chamber board after McDonald’s contributed $20,000 to the organization, “made a personal decision to step down” after he accepted a new position with McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada.

McDonald’s officials also told AFA the company has no plans to renew its membership in the special interest group when it expires in December.

“We appreciate the decision by McDonald’s to no longer support political activity by homosexual activist organizations,” AFA chairman Donald E. Wildmon said in a prepared statement.

In a statement GayAgenda Received from McDonald’s:

“McDonald’s stands by and supports our people. Diversity and inclusion are integral components of our brand and our heritage. We continue to have strong employee networks throughout our company and will continue to align our brand with individuals and organizations that share our belief in supporting our people and the communities we serve.”

I received a later email from McDonald’s Corportation stating they “are not a member of the AFA” and do not plan on joining.

When You Care to Send the Very Best: Give ‘em Hell

But if you want to do a little something to tweak the noses of the Religious Right, the American Patriarchy Asociation has called for a letter writing campaign. It seems that Hallmark Greeting Cards are peddling a line of gay-friendly cards, which irks poor little Donald Wildmon something fierce. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because they’re cute, stylish, and witty, but at the same time he’s afraid to mail a coming-out card to his Mom?

Anyway, Wildmon is asking his flock to send negative letters to Hallmark. How about taking a moment to send the very best to thank Hallmark for being non-discriminatory?

Religious Right Feeling The Heat - California or Bust!

Although its extremely doubtful the American Family Association’s founder,  Donald E. Wildmon is willing to concede in the war against gays, the failure of proposition 8 (a constitution ban against same-sex marriage) would take some wind out of his sails.

“If we lose California, if they defeat the marriage amendment, I’m afraid that the culture war is over and Christians have lost,” the Evangelical leader told columnist Bill Berkowitz. ”I’ve never said that publicly until now,” Wildmon added, “but that’s just the reality of the fact.”

Again, Proposition 8, which will appear on the November California ballot, would reverse the effects of California’s Supreme Court’s May 15th ruling, which affirmed equal protection under the state’s constitution for same-sex couples, including equal access to civil marriage. Proposition 8 would take the exact same language from Proposition 22, voted into law in 2000 and invalidated by the ruling, and write it directly into the Constitution.

The ruling confirmed California as the second state to recognize equal marriage rights, and the first to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples who reside out of state.

“California is a big dam, holding back the flood” in the “culture wars,” Wildmon asserted, “and if you take down the dam in California, it’s going to flood 49 other states.”

Secularism, he said, “will replace Christianity as the foundation of our society,” leading to a “cultural decline.”

Its now more than ever the Human Rights Campaign needs your help.  Show your support of Human Rights and support gay marriage any way possible!  Its up to you to secure your rights and citizenship.  Find out how you can help at hrc.org.

The anti-gay American Family Association, which condemns gay and lesbian family causes like marriage equality, has called for a boycott of fast-food chain restaurant McDonald’s. McDonald’s, however, has given the AMA notice that it’s not about to allow its policies to be dictated by anti-gay groups. Read more
