Repealing DADT Will End Freedom of Speech

March 5, 2010 by James Hipps · 4 Comments

And so it goes.  I received this mass email from Tony Perkins’ anti-gay, let us push our religious ideology down your throat, Family Research Council asking to sign a petition to maintain discrimination in the name of God.

Help Protect Our Troops
March 03, 2010

U.S. Troops Protect Our Freedoms Everyday – Will You Protect Theirs?
Over 31,000 have signed our petition, help build the groundswell!

Dear James,

The President is trying to remove the policy that prevents open homosexuals from serving in the military. But what will happen to the hundreds of thousands of Christians and others in the military who disagree, for legitimate reasons, with the homosexual lifestyle?

What about the many chaplains who counsel our fighting men who will find the change incompatible with their beliefs? I personally got a preview of what will happen to them when I was dis-invited from speaking at Andrews Air Force Base’s National Prayer Luncheon because I oppose the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

This makes our point that repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is not only dangerous to military readiness and effectiveness, but to free speech at large. One of the most destructive byproducts of repealing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is the chilling effect on our first freedoms.

Nowhere is that more evident than in Andrews’ public response to the controversy.

Here is their response to the media. “The Chaplain’s Office retracted Mr. Perkins’ invitation after his recent public comments made many who planned to attend the event uncomfortable,” the statement read. “This was a local decision made by the Chaplain’s Office who wanted the luncheon to be inclusive for the entire base community. The Chaplain’s Office respects and defends Mr. Perkins’ right to express his opinions and regrets any inconvenience to him. We thank and respect him for his prior military service.”

The policy still stands, yet some among the military brass are already embracing the underlying message: inclusivity. While that sounds like a reasonable goal, it’s completely impossible. By rescinding my invitation, the base may have placated a few but insulted Bible-believing Christians across America. Sign the petition if you agree with me.

As Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) said, “If, in the name of inclusiveness, we throw out someone who is a Christian or has a view that might be a little bit different than Mr. Obama’s then we’ve dishonored the very service that fights to uphold and defend our Constitution.”

Overturning this military policy is a goal of radical activists because it stands in the way of their ultimate goal, the destruction of the Defense of Marriage Act and marriage laws in all 50 states.

Due to the nature of military culture and the chain of command, the men and women who serve are not free to speak publicly to defend themselves and the current policy. Will you speak for them?

Please sign the petition to tell Congress to keep the law that says homosexuality is incompatible with military service, and oppose efforts to use our armed forces to advance a sexual agenda.

Thank you for taking action today and God bless you.

So allowing gays and lesbians to be honest about who they are as they serve out nation threatens free speech? And I thought there was some commandment about not bearing false witness. Silly me! God bless you too Tony Perkins!

An Open Letter to Tony Perkins & Followers

January 29, 2010 by James Hipps · 3 Comments

Tony Perkins, the president of the anti-gay Family Research Council released the following statement in response to President Obama’s State of the Union Address:

“At a time of enormous economic challenge, two on-going wars in which Americans are fighting and increased terrorist threats to Americans at home, President Obama seems untethered from that reality as he called on Congress to force the military to allow open homosexuality. As a veteran of the Marine Corps, the timing of the President’s call in the midst of two wars shows that he is willing to jeopardize our nation’s security to advance the agenda of the radical homosexual lobby.

“The military is a warrior culture for a reason: Our service members wear the uniform to fight and win wars, not serve as liberal social policy guinea pigs. The sexual environment the President is seeking to impose upon the young men and women who serve this country is the antithesis of the successful warfighting culture and as such should be rejected.”

Well Mr. Perkins. Just in case you, and those who buy into your ignorance, are too stupid to realize this on your own, there were gay men in the Marines when you were serving. Just in case you’re too stupid to realize this, gay men and lesbian women serving in the military will not weaken, but rather strengthen our country’s defenses. Just in case you are too stupid to realize this on your own, the only “radical homosexual lobby” is called equality. Just in case you’re too stupid to recognize this fact, gay men and lesbians are typically stronger emotionally than most heterosexuals, as we have endured more verbal, physical and psychological abuse than your lilly-white privileged self will ever endure. Mr. Perkins, this is NOT some social experiment. The people you are talking about are human…no less human than you.

As far as your statement about the current economic situation, yes, I understand a great deal of your income is based upon the manifestation of intolerance and hate, and yes, if and when “homosexuals” are accepted into American society, your bank account will dwindle, just as Jerry Fawell’s did when the Civil Rights Movement took root and preaching segregation based on Biblical interpretations was no longer a viable source of income…you too will lose your vast income from preaching hate against the LGBT community. My advise, start saving for your rainy day.

Mr. Perkins, I would like to point out one more thing…the biggest “THREAT” to this country now, is the same that it always has been…discrimination and hate. Therefore, YOU ARE the biggest threat to this great nation! You should be locked up and the key should be tossed!

Christians Beware: ENDA is the Enda of Your Job

November 20, 2009 by James Hipps · 3 Comments

Well, it would appear that the failed efforts to block adding LGBT tax-paying American citizens to the list of those protected under the federal hate-crimes law hasn’t stifled the religious zealots who insist upon shoving their “Christian” ideology down the throats of every American citizen.

The Family Research Council is now out begging for some tax-exempt money to help them fight against ENDA. That’s right, they’re using the same lies and scare tactics to guilt the ignorant, unknowing and weak-minded into donating money, so they can again, use tax-exempt dollars to assure their right to discriminate against “homosexuals” in the workplace.

Have a look below…it’s directly off their website, and stuff this crazy simply can’t be made up!

A grave threat to your traditional values and religious freedom is resurfacing.

Deceptively, it’s called the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). Truthfully, it should be called the “Discrimination Against Christians in the Workplace Act.”

I know that sounds far-fetched, but this is what ENDA will do . . .

ENDA will redefine your faith as illegal workplace bigotry . . . make the government a full partner in the homosexual rights movement . . . and force churches, small businesses run by Christians, and faith-based charities to hire nonbelievers or face federal investigation.

This law would punish anyone in the workplace who dares oppose homosexual behavior, cross-dressing and other unhealthy behaviors. The liberals intentionally want to define “discrimination” very vaguely so that their allies in the courts and federal and state agencies will have broad latitude to silence traditional moral viewpoints about sexuality.

Pro-homosexual members of Congress–with the administration’s complete support–would like to pass ENDA before it becomes an issue in the 2010 elections.

And that’s why we must act immediately.

Please send a financial gift to Family Research Council right now so we can sound the alarm about the disastrous impact this law will have on Christians.

Here is what ENDA’s champions in Congress and the administration are saying:

* Barney Frank, D-Mass., says passing ENDA is his “number-one” objective.
* A top administration official says ENDA is the “keystone” to overturning the military’s ban on openly homosexual behavior and the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
* The appointed commissioner of the agency that would enforce ENDA promises she will use it to punish Christian “intolerance” in the workplace:
“I’m having a hard time coming up with any case in which religious liberty should win.”

Family Research Council helped preserve Christians’ freedom of religion from ENDA when it looked like the liberal-controlled Congress was going to pass it in 2008.

And we can do it again . . . but we need your immediate help. Will you please follow this link to our secure website and make a donation now?

We must act NOW . . . because ENDA’s champions are already hard at work.

Thank you for standing with FRC in this crucial fight for your faith, family, and freedom. And thank you for praying for FRC and for our country.

As someone who was fired from a job for being gay in 2002, and with no legal recourse, I speak from experience.  There needs to be protections against bias, hate, intolerance and bigotry.  No one should be hired or fired based upon physical characteristics that are NOT choices.  Now, even though the religion one follows is a choice, when was the last time anyone in this country was fired for being “Christian”?   Oh, I know, they make up lies about that too, but when it comes down to it, people are not fired for being “Christian”.  It simply does not happen!  They may be fired for telling a co-worker they’re going to hell for being gay.  They may also be fired for calling GLBT “deviants”, “fags” or “dykes” in the workplace.  But let’s face it, if someone is being abusive towards a co-worker, whether it’s calling them a ‘fag’, a “n”, or any other derogatory term, then they deserve to be put out.

Now, for all of you “Christians” who say you don’t want a “deviant” lifestyle shoved in your face at work, well, stop making out with your ‘opposite sex’ partner on the job….what, you don’t do that?  Oh, but gay people do…right?  Heck, let the gays have rights and they just may start having sex right on your desk…because after all, we know the ONLY attribute of a same-sex relationship is the evil “sex” part right?  Also, for all you good God fearing Christians…take the pics of your spouses and kids down off your desk, because God forbid a gay man or lesbian put a picture of their significant other up (after all, since we’re talking about homoSEXuals, it would be a pornographic pic anyway).

Now, I want to address one more point.  In the above plea to save your “Christian” job, you’ve included the statement, “This law would punish anyone in the workplace who dares oppose homosexual behavior, cross-dressing and other unhealthy behaviors.”

Well, as I said, if you call me a filthy fag, then yes, you should be fired, just as I should be fired if I call you a raging lunatic b*tch.  There’s no need for abuse in the workplace…EVER!  But more than that, I have to ask, how is homosexual behavior and cross-dressing  any more “unhealthy” than say having an extramarital affair, smoking cigarettes on your break, living a sedentary lifestyle?  In fact, exactly how is homosexual behavior or cross-dressing unhealthy?  Is there some disease associated with being a homosexual or cross-dresser I’m not aware of?  If you’re talking about HIV/AIDS…better look at stats sista…you don’t have to be gay to be positive!  Of course, these are decendants of the same God fearing people who used to say that masturbation would cause blindness, so we know they’re not a reliable source of what’s “unhealthy”.

So, if you choose to live your life in fear (which we all know is a product of ignorance) then go right ahead.  Fear God, fear homoSEXuals, ignorance is bliss!  But once LGBT tax-paying Americans are covered under ENDA, just don’t let that fear turn into verbal abuse.  As long as you don’t verbally or physically attack someone because you are too stupid to understand not everyone is like you, you’ll still be able to commit the deadly sin of glutony right at your desk…without the risk of losing your job.

Right Wing Hypocrisy, Wide Spread and Spreading Further

November 8, 2009 by James Hipps · 2 Comments

As most of us outside of the “Right Wing” know, there is a great deal of hypocrisy within. Yes…they tout grand lectures of smaller government, but is that what they really want? Perhaps, as long as that smaller government interferes on issues they don’t support.

An excellent example is pointed out on Irregular Times (click link for entire post):

When I speak of the “right wing”, I don’t just mean the Republican Party. I also mean to refer to a coalition of Democrats in Congress that has been fighting health care reform all year long. The coalition changes its tactics with the needs of the moment, but right now, that group is blocking health care reform legislation by demanding that all private insurance companies that participate in a new marketplace for government funded marketplace stop their current coverage for abortion. That provision is found within an amendment that Michigan Democrat Bart Stupak has demanded be considered, threatening to block health care reform legislation completely if it does not come up to a vote.

What the right wing, in the Republican Party and within the Democratic Party, is now arguing for is what it had been arguing against: Government interference in private health insurance plans. They’re demanding that the government ration health care. They’re arguing in favor of increased government power. They’re arguing in favor of more bureaucratic regulations, interfering with the free market delivery of health care.

So, first the right wing was against government interference, when it was associated with health care reform moving forward. Now, the right wing is in favor of government interference, when it is associated with the obstruction of health care reform. It seems that the right wing actually has no consistent opposition to government regulation. The consistent factor in the debate is the right wing’s opposition to health care reform, whatever that takes.

Now some of us, yes I’m included, have stated that it’s only a matter of time, in respect to the majority of right-wingers are older and eventually they’ll die off and progress will prevail.  However, let’s not become too comfortable with that thought.

There’s a great post on True/Slant (click link for entire post) that shows that the right wing is hard at work, doing exactly what they accuse the LGBT community of doing…recruiting our nation’s youth.  According to the post:

During the lead-up to the vote on R-71, a new group named the “Youth Revolution” emerged in Washington. Though the organization claims to represent “teens” and “20-somethings,” the group has ties to the Family Policy Institute of Washington, which funneled around $200,000 into a campaign PAC in an effort to defeat R-71. The connection between Youth Revolution and FPIW is Russell Johnson, the Executive Director of Youth Revolution, and Director of Governmental Affairs for James Dobson’s Focus on the Family/Family Research Council, an affiliate of FPIW.

So, to get to the point.  We can’t rest!  We (and I’m talking about the LGBT community) can’t become any more apathetic than we already are.  We can’t count on the future to bring us change we want, deserve and need.  We must work, and not only against the Obvious, but against those Democrats and youth who are falling into the ‘right wing trap’.

Family Research Council’s Coldhearted Attack on LGBT Seniors

October 27, 2009 by Gay Agenda News Team · 1 Comment

Religious right groups often place themselves on the pedestal of virtue and respectability. However if one assesses how they conduct business, one would wonder if they actually deserve to be knocked off that pedestal.

Last weekend, it was Matt Barber of the Liberty Counsel actually defending countries who torture and execute lgbts

Yesterday, the Family Research Council spoke out against Obama Administration plans to create a national resource center for lgbt seniors:

HHS has no idea how many LGBT seniors exist. No one does! The movement is only a few decades old, and people who are 80- or 90-years-old didn’t grow up in a culture where it was acceptable to identify with this lifestyle.

Of course, the real tragedy here–apart from the unnecessary spending–is that, given the risks of homosexual conduct, few of these people are likely to live long enough to become senior citizens! Yet once again, the Obama administration is rushing to reward a lifestyle that poses one of the greatest public health risks in America.
