Gainsville Scare Tactics Against GLBT Community

The Gainsville, Florida Supervisor of Elections has certified there are enough valid signatures on a petition to put a repeal of civil rights protections on the November ballot.
In January, the City Council voted on the expansion of protections in housing and employment to include gender identity. Now, The Citizens for Good Public Policy have launched a fear and hate based campaign against the protections. They are seeking to repeal the gender identity protections and any protection against discrimination against sexual orientation.
Gainsivlle, which was once thought of as a progressive city, and a leader for the state of Florida, now stands of chance of turning back the clock and once again becoming like the rest of the state. Florida’s state laws do not include gender or sexual orientation in thier laws of citizen protections.
