Get a Room…No Really, Get a Room?

So, there seems to be a bit of buzz today across the blogosphere about the LAPD (yes again), but this time it’s about their reported “sting” operation to stop men from having sex with each other in LA’s public parks. Many blogs (if you read gay blogs you’ll find them) are issues statements of outrage, but personally I don’t think it’s an abuse of power to want people to not have sex in public places and evidently I’m not alone.
According to Focus On The Rainbow:
Sorry no sympathy from this writer. If you want anonymous sex, pick up a guy and get a motel room. Want sex in the great outdoors, go to a gay men campground. And if you’re a married man, go home and pork your wife or get out of your marriage which obviously isn’t satisfying either because of her or “your problem” .

So, what are your thoughts? Is this gay discrimination or simply a matter of keeping your pants on in public?
Kenyan Police Raid Gay Wedding, Arrest 5
February 12, 2010 by Gay Agenda News Team · 2 Comments
Police in Mtwapa, just north of the Kenyan coastal town of Mombasa, say they have arrested five men whom they accuse of being homosexuals.
District officer George Matandura said two of the men had been found with wedding rings, attempting to get married, in Kikambala beach resort.
The other three men were handed to the police by members of the public; two of them had reportedly been beaten.
Homosexuality is illegal in Kenya but arrests are extremely rare.
Crowds gathered outside the police station where the men were taken in protest at the presence of alleged homosexuals.
The wedding was reportedly due to take place at a private villa in the resort, but locals heard of the plans and alerted the police, who raided a house and arrested the men.
‘Repugnant’ behaviour
“We are grateful to the public for alerting the police. They should continue co-operating with the police to arrest more,” Mr Matundura said.
“It is an offence, an unnatural offence, and also their behaviour is repugnant to the morality of the people.”

NYC Cops Keep Arresting Gay Men For Cruising Which Isn’t Illegal!
October 23, 2009 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment
The rationale the NYPD has been using to arrest gay men cruising in adult book shops? It’s unconstitutional. So how come the police continue to intimidate these men, and courts continue to hear cases and issue punishments for a crime that is, in fact, not a crime at all?
It’s a great question, and Slate’s Daniel Redman tries answering it. “In 1983,” he reminds us, “New York’s high court struck down as unconstitutional a 1960s-era provision that made it illegal to cruise—that is, to hit on someone in a public place. And yet in the 26 years since, on thousands of occasions, the New York Police Department has continued to enforce the defunct law, historically used to target gay people.”

Nine men have been sentences to 8 years in prison after being convicted of homosexual acts in Senegal.
According to reports from The International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission, the men were arrested last month and ordered Wednesday to serve eight years (three years longer than the typical sentence) in prison for “engaging in acts against the order of nature.” The defense for the men was was not given much time to prepare its case.
Diadji Diouf, who lead an organization in Senegal that provides HIV prevention services to gay men, was among those arrested.
Homosexuality is still illegal in many countries in African, with the exception of South Africa, which became the center of controversy when it became the first African country to legalize same-sex marriage in 2006.
70 Gay Men Arrested in Malaysian Raid

Unlike the 1993 Mel Brooks-directed comedy, ‘Robin Hood: Men in Tights’, an entertainment centre and two massage parlours hosted separate parties with a difference yesterday.
Apparently, the humble bathroom towel was the ‘theme’ of the three parties meant exclusively for men.
As it turned out, most of the 70 men who turned up to have fun and frolick with one another, wore just a towel, and nothing else.
The guests, including a foreigner, were allegedly participating in a ‘gay party’ meant exclusively for homosexuals.
Thus, the police were not amused when they raided the entertainment centre in Jalan Perai Jaya and the massage parlours in Pulau Tikus to find the men frolicking with their male partners, clad only in towels.
