Rene Alvarado Leads the Way in East Side Story

From Sugacoobs.com:
I would love to say that there are heaps of gay movies out there to be enjoyed, but I would be lying if I did. Unfortunately, I suspect largely due to a lack of funding opportunities, gay movies all too often suffer the curse of low budget and underdeveloped absurdity.
Thank-fully, I was lucky enough to come across one such film that both avoids all the clichés and manages to look like a slick enough production. East Side Story is at its core a coming out story, BUT do not turn away. I myself groaned at the mention of this in the blurb, but I was proved wrong, as will you be. It should be noted however that like Mambo Italiano, another gay film with a similar story, ESS again takes us to a place where racial conflicts are playing against people’s ability to be themselves in a deeper way than most are aware of. Both films are entirely valid, and indeed very good – but two is probably enough.
Diego lives in East Los Angeles with his sweet but old fashioned grandmother, and his closer-to-his-age aunt (that is, when she’s not waltzing all over Europe). Though he studied at a renowned chef school, his life has not consisted of much outside of working at his family’s rather tacky and run-down restaurant. Secretly, he dreams of opening his own eatery, but change isn’t something that comes easily to this community.

Susan Powter on Being Fit…and a Lesbian
November 12, 2008 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment
Today on The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet Susan Powter explained that anyone “with a human body” can breathe and be fit. On a side note, it doesn’t take her long to mention she hates Dr. Phil, no explanation offered.
But then, out of nowhere, Mike interrupts her asking, “Here’s the thing: I didn’t know know you were a lesbian.”
“What planet were you living on?” Powter asks as she jokes about how obvious it should be. Then Mike and Juliet announce her “lover” used to be a comedian on the show named Jessica Kirson. Susan can’t get over the use of the word “lover” and goes to town, repeating it over and over again.
Mike and Juliet are confused that Susan has been “married to men” and is now a lesbian, and Mike mentions he has known her for “18 years.” Guess they’re pretty close eh?

GA Exclusive Interview: Miguel Dupree
November 8, 2008 by tonnio · Leave a Comment
Meet The Real Centerfold: Miguel Dupree, a dirty boy with a dirty mouth.
Interview by Antonio Capurro
His name is Miguel, 22 years old and lives in Orlando, Florida. Miguel belongs to the new generation of gay American youth ready to express his ideas and thoughts in his own real words. As he says on his YouTune profile, “subscribe if you like dirty boys with dirty mouths.”
Miguel is Miguel, and not for nothing, one of his influences is Howard Stern. Miguel is trying to make his voice known in the blogosphere, a cute man whose favorite food is lasagna and prefers cats to dogs with no academic aspirations so don’t ask what he will be when grows up. Meet The Real Centerfold taking this ride to sex and more.
ANTONIO: Hi Miguel! It’s my pleasure that you accepted this interview for gayagenda.com?
Centerfold: I never expected any attention from any website to be honest. When I was asked to be interviewed, I jumped at the chance. As a blogger I am still not very known on YouTube so an interview with anyone is a pleasure and very flattering.
ANTONIO: Thanks; so why was the purpose of making a video blog like The Real Centerfold and why did you call that?
Centerfold: For a long time, I was writing on an old blog called Aerated. It wasn’t well known or anything, but it was a great outlet for me because I got to write about what I love, which is the arts. It got to the point where I was tired of writing, so I experimented a little and posted a video on YouTube about Kim Kardashian and I realized how much I enjoyed it. So it all began from there. Centerfold is the name of my YouTube channel, and since I wanted to start a website and centerfold.com was obviously already taken, I thought of using the name The Real Centerfold as kind an alternative. No one really knows what it means but I like it. Originally, I named myself Centerfold on YouTube because it’s the name of a song by Pink that I like. Plus Centerfold just sounds cool. Ha-ha
ANTONIO: The Real GUY Centerfold?
Centerfold: Yes, exactly. Ha-ha.
ANTONIO: I bet making a video blog is a lot of fun and a chance to express many ideas and emotions, but how different is your video blog from others in the blogosphere? What makes it genuine?
Centerfold: I think all bloggers share a common interest, and that is the ability to speak too much. I’ve never been an overly outgoing guy, so video blogging has allowed me to be candid and crass and have people enjoy it. What’s different about me is that I am a gay man speaking frankly about sex and all the tastes and desires that come with it. We don’t see many gay men talking much about sex. And if they do, it’s usually kind of trashy. I like to have a sense of humour about the topics I speak about, and sex is no exception.
ANTONIO: I think you have a cool and delicious way of talking about sex and I don’t think you are a pervert as your friend said. I think he was teasing you.
Centerfold: Hahaha, I don’t think I’m necessarily a pervert either, but my friend was just joking with me. I think I just love talking about sex. Ha-ha
ANTONIO: We noticed that already. Why is there so much repression when it comes to sex in the American society?
Centerfold: Ah yes. Well, unfortunately we have a long way to go before sex is ever something that we can collectively be comfortable with as Americans, much less gay sex, but it’ll get there someday.
ANTONIO: There are so many gay porn sites and they are throwing it at our faces all the time.
Centerfold: Ha-ha, well, porn will always be around, and men (gay or straight) will want to look at it, but yeah I agree that the Internet kind of shoves it down our throats. Porn can be great but it can also be terrible.
ANTONIO: According to you, what is good porn and bad porn?
Centerfold: Good porn is porn that feels realistic and sexy. You can get that feeling from high-budget or low budget porn. Bad porn is when people look like they’re bored. That’s always a turn off. And let’s not beat around the bush here - if someone just isn’t hot, or if they have ugly genitalia, jerking off isn’t going to be as much fun. That’s the beauty of porn. You can be totally shallow. After all, it’s a tool, not an experience.
ANTONIO: So what could we find in Miguel’s favorite xxx sites?
Centerfold: Honestly, I don’t have a huge list of dirty websites that I look at. Randyblue.com is wonderful but you have to pay for that. Valhummers blog is great, I like him. And Ahrrr’s blog is hilarious and a lot of fun. That’s about it really.
ANTONIO: What do you think about protecting kids from pornography?
Centerfold: I think kids should be monitored when it comes to the Internet. I certainly wouldn’t have wanted my 7-year-old self to be watching hardcore porn. I think that these things are important for families who have young children. As far as teenagers go… God, I was masturbating to porn at age fourteen, and my views about sex don’t seem to be unhealthy or abnormal in any way. Teenagers are going to masturbate no matter what, so introducing naked adults into their lives is not going to affect them much. It’ll just make them more appreciative of adult content. Hahaha
ANTONIO: Are you saying that should we allow them to watch good porn?
Centerfold: I’ll put it this way - if I had a son or daughter, I’d monitor their Internet use until they have hit puberty and have a sense of sex. I’d educate and teach them about it so I’d know that if they watched porn, they’d understand what it was for. That doesn’t mean I still wouldn’t be aware of what they were doing, though. Parents should know everything about their kids. Ha-ha
ANTONIO: I also have a YouTube channel and I was upset when I saw some people flagged my collage video of gay couples taken by famous photographers but art is art and I don’t think that to see that will affect kids too much don’t you think so?
Centerfold: Well, I visited Rome and Paris when I was very young, and we all know that both cities have an abundance of nude art and sculpture. I giggled and blushed, but I still thought nothing of it. It didn’t damage me. If art is tasteful and beautiful, there is no reason for parents to block their kids from seeing it.
ANTONIO: Where is the line crossed between erotica and porn?
Centerfold: Erotica to me is more of an art form. If I were to look at an interesting picture of a naked man with his back turned to the camera, I wouldn’t consider it a picture for me to utilize the way I utilize porn. I’d consider it something to admire. Pornography, like I said, is there for one to use.
ANTONIO: To use the tool…LOL
Centerfold: Exactly!
ANTONIO: Do you hate republicans?
Centerfold: Well, I will make one thing clear: I don’t hate them in the sense that I want to disrespect or harm them. That video, like all my other videos, was made with a sense of sarcasm. But I think a lot of their values and ideas are so backward and offensive that it’s hard for me to even have normal conversations with them. I think they’re a big problem for my country, honestly. You won’t see me befriending a republican anytime soon. Republicans have long been an unsexy political party. Look at our famous democrats: John Kennedy, Bill Clinton… handsome and smart men. Barack Obama may not be sexy but he’s a hell of a lot nicer to look at than George Bush. The less said about McCain the better. Palin is a cute woman though.
ANTONIO: Palin has very strong ties to her church and she doesn’t show much tolerance with gay issues.
Centerfold: Well, she’s just ignorant. And not ready to command the country in any sense. But I don’t think she’s a bad person. McCain is like Bush, in my opinion. He is arrogant and corrupt.
ANTONIO: What do you expect to see in your country as a young gay male after November 4th?
Centerfold: All I really want at this point is a democrat in office. I feel like that’s the first step - we’ll be sending out a message to the rest of the planet that we’re ready to fix stuff up. I hope that if Barack Obama is elected, he’ll spend a lot of time helping us clean up the planet and ridding us of the global warming crisis. I think that, along with ending the war and fixing the economy should be the first priority.
ANTONIO: We should have freedom to get married too…
Centerfold: Yes, of course, but I will be honest. Right now, marriage for homosexuals is just a fragment in the messed up puzzle we’re dealing with right now. I want to see gay men and women have the freedom to marry in this country, I want it very much, but if our planet is in peril and there is no money, no one’s even going to care about gay marriage. We need to fix the big things first.
ANTONIO: I am not American but I am against Prop 8, would you consider getting married one day?
Centerfold: Absolutely! I would love to. Marriage is a silly idea when you step back and look at what it really is, but the idea of having an “official” husband is very exciting and sweet. I will make sure I am marrying the right person though - because as we all know, marriage ends in divorce far too often.
ANTONIO: But first you will need to find Mr. Right, are you single right now or are you looking? How is the man of your dreams?
Centerfold: I’m single right now and although I’d like a boyfriend, I’m not really actively seeking it at the moment. The man of my dreams… who knows? I love men and am attracted to pretty much all-different types. Physically though, there is this guy named Rob Sheridan, the art director for my favorite musical act Nine Inch Nails… and at least on a superficial level, he is the man of my dreams. I hope he reads this!
ANTONIO: I am sure that he will email you as soon as he goes to gayagenda.com. Have you ever been discriminated against or have you ever witnessed homophobia?
Centerfold: I did see a lot of homophobia in my youth, not necessarily towards me, but blatant fear and prejudice against homosexuals was not an uncommon thing for me growing up. Straight men tend to have those feelings because they were raised around people who voiced dislike of homosexuals. So in a way, they’re just clueless people. I think most of the time, people grow out of it.
ANTONIO: Because they follow patterns and the straight way but even gay people have a lot of stereotypes.
Centerfold: Oh, of course. We are plenty of them.
ANTONIO: How was coming out for you? Was it easy?
Centerfold: Oh yeah it was pretty easy. My dad didn’t care. My mom needed time to adjust but it was quick. I was lucky.
ANTONIO: Lucky guy! When and how did you discover your sexuality?
Centerfold: As a young kid, I always knew I was different. I may not have been able to verbalize it or put it into organized thoughts, but I knew. When I became a teenager and started dreaming about men and what it would be like to just kiss one, I knew I was gay. I hid it for a long time, but when you’re getting erections from looking at shirtless men, it’s not that hard to put the puzzle pieces together.
ANTONIO: I see you enjoy being the sex guru you are by seeing in your videos but how do you prepare? Do you research or do you use your own experience?
Centerfold: I prepared with both, but I haven’t had an abundance of sex, I mean I am only 22 and am not really out there having random encounters with people, but sex is something that men feel very heavily pretty much all their lives. Women are different - their sex needs are there, but they don’t manifest themselves the same way. So I draw from my imagination a lot too. Plus, reading about sex is incredibly fun. I go online mostly, although I have purchased a book about men and pornography, a very interesting book.
ANTONIO: There is a great difference between men and women about sex and sometimes I wonder why straight men are so clueless about satisfying their woman?
Centerfold: Straight men are an interesting case… some straight men know exactly what they are doing, which is great, but some are clueless, which is just funny.
ANTONIO: I wonder why some straight guys have sex with men but they don’t consider themselves gay or bi?
Centerfold: Honestly that is a mystery I’ve never been able to figure out. Sometimes it’s very obvious that a man is in the closet when he’s having sex with other men, but sometimes you see men who are very obviously heterosexual and still engage in gay experiences with other men. That is very interesting. Sexuality is a confusing thing.
ANTONIO: I agree with you but we need to demystify things and study them.
Centerfold: Yes
ANTONIO: I know you love butts.
Centerfold: I love them nice and round and kind of big. Not too big, that’s weird, but round and strong manly. I love it.
ANTONIO: A big package is always welcome. You and Michelle, your friend, talk about fauxgasms and it makes me think about guys and women that fake it a lot.
Centerfold: It’s terrible isn’t it? I will never fake an orgasm. It’s kind of hard for men to fake it anyway.
ANTONIO: Has your best orgasm been alone or with a good lover?
Centerfold: Orgasms are always better with someone else, at least for me.
ANTONIO: Are gay men are more sensitive than straight men?
Centerfold: Sometimes they’re just as insensitive as straight men. I think men in general can be that way. But gay men have a better understanding of emotions, at least most of time. Some of them, despite this, still don’t care.
ANTONIO: I know there are a lot of things you should not say to a man. What was the worst thing you’ve ever told one of your ex-boyfriends? Was it really bad?
Centerfold: Oh, I’ve been very good about that. If there was anything critical I needed to say about a man, I’d make sure it was worth saying. If it’s something minor, you should always keep it to yourself…unless it’s too annoying to keep silent about.
ANTONIO: Tell the truth but in a polite way and choose a good moment…
Centerfold: Yes
ANTONIO: Do you think we should talk about sex in a healthy and affective way?
Centerfold: Yes, always. What good is it gonna do if we talk about sex in a brazen and gross way? If you wanna talk about how much you like to screw, you better make a good and entertaining case for it - with good reasons. Otherwise you’re just an attention whore. And despite what people may think, I am not a very big attention whore!
ANTONIO: What do you call a good lover, and what is good sex for you?
Centerfold: What is a good lover? You mean a good boyfriend? Well, a good boyfriend is a guy who is an inspiration to you. Being inspired by your mate (and you inspiring them) is a recipe for a wonderful relationship. Having a best friend is important too. Good sex? Well, good sex is the ability to be you in the bedroom. If you have that, the sex will be wonderful.
ANTONIO: Have you ever had good sex? How is Miguel in bed if you can share that with us?
Centerfold: Ha-ha, that’s a secret. All I will say is that I love sex and could have sex all day if you let me.
ANTONIO: I hope the guy from Nine Inch Nails reads this part and lets you.
Centerfold: God I hope so too.
ANTONIO: You give gay men a lot of advice. You recommend being in shape to have good sex even when some guys are too lazy to exercise.
Centerfold: Yes. Being in shape is so important. If you’re not in good shape when your body requires it most (ages 20-30), your sex life will be subpart going into your 40s and 50s. Being healthy in young age contributes a lot.
ANTONIO: When is Miguel comfortable being naked?
Centerfold: Ha-ha, when there is no one in the house or in front of a boyfriend. Otherwise I’m pretty shy. I don’t enjoy being seen naked by many people, but I enjoy the freedom of nudity when no one is watching.
ANTONIO: Are you shy? I can’t believe it!
Centerfold: I am sometimes, but not so much anymore. I know how to carry good conversation with people and am not really afraid of meeting new people.
ANTONIO: What kind of new people do you like to meet?
Centerfold: Anyone really and I don’t discriminate! Ha-ha
ANTONIO: I saw in one of your post a thing we call Rosario in the Spanish language. Are you a religious person?
Centerfold: Not at all and the rosary was a gift from my grandmother when I was a tiny baby and I think it’s very beautiful. I don’t believe in god, but catholic imagery is beautiful to me. So I keep it around. Latin culture has a lot of it.
ANTONIO: Do you have Latin heritage?
Centerfold: Yes, I am half Venezuelan.
ANTONIO: So is there a myth, or are we Latinos very hot and I am including myself?
Centerfold: Oh Latinos can be absolutely beautiful. There is no myth to that. But I find lots of men from any ethnicity beautiful. LOL
ANTONIO: Finally tell us what are your next projects and goals and what do you expect from life? How do you see The Real Centerfold in ten years?
Centerfold: Oh god, I wish I knew. I wanna get into film so hopefully that will mesh with TRC in some way. My YouTube channel is getting a bit of attention now thanks to Ahrrr’s blog, so hopefully I’ll have an audience on YouTube to interact with. Right now I’m just enjoying the freedom I have. We’ll see where it takes me.
ANTONIO: I bet you will have a lot of more attention after this interview but I have a question, will we see you naked?
Centerfold: That’s a great idea. I’ll have to keep it in mind.
ANTONIO: You keep it for the audience and me. Thanks so much Miguel. It was a pleasure.
Centerfold: Thank YOU. I am so grateful to you for doing this! Gracias, Antonio.

They might even have threatened to cancel his contract.

Rumors Swirling & Twirling Around Will Smilth
October 21, 2008 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment
According to a post on queerty.com:
We’ve been hearing for years that the super star and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, both go for the same-sex. It came as no surprise, then, to hear that Smith, who’s been palling around with Tom Cruise and his anti-gay Scientologists, has spent some time with male prostitutes in the past. From the ever-vigilant Ian Halperin:
According to a notorious Hollywood Madame, Smith was a client of hers for years before she packed up shop and moved her operation to Manhattan earlier this year. She remembers the first time she ever spoke with Smith. “I had to reassure him over and over that I could guarantee discretion,” she said. “Once I convinced him I could, he placed his order. It was for a man. I had 14 women working for me and two guys. You’d be surprised at how many Hollywood stars requested the services of the guys.”If that’s true, then those boys must make serious bank. With such a demand for young lovelies, why didn’t the madame get some new stock. That’s what we would do - you know, if we were pimps and all.
As for this madame’s promise for discretion - apparently not.
Well, I think we made need a more reliable source before we know for sure, but if we ever do find out it’s true…WATCH out and step aside, cause he’s all mine!
