March 10, 2010 by Gay Agenda News Team · 2 Comments

The NYPD are looking for five men who beat a 22-year-old man on the street last week. The men jumped him, beat him with their fists and shouted anti-gay slurs at him.

The NYPD says the man was attacked last Tuesday morning at Luquer Street and Hamilton Avenue as he left a gay and lesbian party at a bar, about 12:50 a.m. on March 2. Police say, the attackers, called the victim a “faggot” and punched him numerous times in the face, knocking him down and causing him to suffer a gash on the back of his head.

Gay and lesbian fans of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” might not be happy about Ronnie Magro’s unaired homophobic rant that surfaced this week on YouTube. A clip has popped up showing Ronnie unleashing of a barrage of anti-gay slurs minutes before his first boardwalk brawl. In the clip, he can he heard yelling, “f**king f**got” and “f**king queer,” to the guy he eventually fights with. Is Ronnie about to have his own John Mayer situation on his hands?

No Place for Johnson’s Anti-Gay Slurs

November 21, 2009 by Gay Agenda News Team · Leave a Comment

From ESPN.com:

Several weeks ago, NFL player Larry Johnson ignited controversy when he used anti-gay slurs to address reporters and on the social-networking Web site, Twitter. As a professional athlete, Johnson’s role is not only to gain yards, but also to serve as a role model to millions of young people. The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) immediately placed calls to the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs to assist in educating fans about why these words are hurtful and should not be used. GLAAD also called on the NFL to both condemn and take disciplinary action on this and future uses of anti-gay epithets. I believe the huge media attention around this call led to the subsequent apology and disciplinary action.

Johnson publically apologized and sent an important message: that there is no excuse for using anti-gay epithets. The Chiefs chose to suspend Johnson, and this weekend he will begin play as a Cincinnati Bengal. We will see if he takes this opportunity to educate fans in his new city that words matter and anti-gay words have no place in the game.

The NFL, however, has not responded to our concerns about this unacceptable trend, though GLAAD continues to request meetings with them and will continue to demand action after anti-gay defamation. I hope the league moves beyond individual suspensions and instead enacts zero-tolerance policies that start to address the danger of homophobia in sports. When these slurs are used by professional athletes, it trickles down to local and amateur sports teams and even children’s teams. It gives license to youths to bully their peers and for feeding a climate of intolerance toward our community. Despite experiencing full legal equality with my husband in Massachusetts, our son was still bullied and called anti-gay taunts on the baseball diamond after two teammates learned he had two dads.

NBA Player Denies Using Homophobic Slurs

November 3, 2009 by Gay Agenda News Team · Leave a Comment

A team source denied accusations that Dallas Mavericks center/forward Drew Gooden used a homosexual slur to insult a couple of Los Angeles Clippers fans Saturday night.

The NBA is reviewing the incident, according to league spokesman Tim Frank.

One of the fans made the accusations to Outsports.com, a Web site that focuses on gay issues in sports. The team source said that a man walking out of the Staples Center with Gooden was the one who made the offensive comments.

Chris Wylde, a 33-year-old Clippers season-ticket holder and who is not gay, said the comments were made after his friend and sat courtside, adjacent to the Mavericks bench, and did some “good-natured” heckling.

Gooden, who is nursing a rib injury, wore street clothes and sat behind the Mavericks bench during the game.

“After the game we went to the souvenir shop and my friend said he wanted to check if one of the kiosks had a particular jersey he was looking for, so he headed back through the stadium and I followed a few feet behind,” Wylde told the Web site. “I saw him look shocked and turn to me, then I heard from Drew Gooden who was surrounded by three or four guys walking past me and pointing to me, ‘There’s that other faggot.’ He had said, ‘There’s that faggot’ about my friend and that’s why he turned to me shocked. It was completely unsolicited. We said nothing to him during the game, or in the hallway. He just called us both ‘faggots’ because he’s a bigoted spoiled bully.”

Ultimate Fighter’s Dana White Goes Off!

April 3, 2009 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

Dana White, the president of Ultimate Fighting Championship blasted a martial arts journalist with profanity and gay slurs in a video posted on YouTube, over a story she wrote on Serdog.com, about the league’s backstage policies for managers and agents.

Hunt’s article included some anonymous quotes form various managers and agents, who said some managers believed the league’s move was part of a larger attempt to wedge them out of business and deal directly with fighters.

After the fact, White has publicly apologized via ESPN by stating:

“I hurt people that I didn’t intend to hurt and when you do something like that, yes, I believe that you should say you’re sorry.  I never intended to hurt anybody in the gay community, or be malicious, or look like a hateful guy. I never meant to hurt anyone in the gay or lesbian community at all, in any way, shape or form. I would never do that. I was speaking to Loretta Hunt. I didn’t mean to bring those people into this, it had nothing to do with them and for that, I’m sorry.”

He further added:

“At the end of the day, the worst thing for me is that I don’t want anybody thinking that it’s cool to say that word especially now that I know the word “faggot” is as powerful as the n-word. I don’t want these kids out there watching me and thinking it’s cool. I don’t want that.”
