Are You a United Character of America?

January 17, 2010 by Gay Agenda News Team · 1 Comment

USA Network has a great new campaign called “Characters Unite”.   There are two main focuses of this campaign included in their mission statement.

1 – Combating prejudice, intolerance, discrimination and hate.

2- Promoting greater acceptance, understanding, and mutual respect of all people.

It seems like campaigns campaigns to promote tolerance and denouncing hate pop-up every other day, but joining all these campaigns are sending an important message to those who stand and lobby for discrimination and hate…that message is; Regardless of how many agree with you, you are not the majority.  Regardless of why you hate, your hate is not accepted.

It’s only takes a second to join up and help take a stand against those who stand against us and others who aren’t considered by the minority as “real Americans.”

Colleen Raezler: One of the Right Wing Nut Busters at NewsBusters

September 27, 2009 by James Hipps · 1 Comment

There’s a post on NewsBusters.com by Colleen Raezler which tries to disguise itself as a ‘critique’ or ‘review’ of the new ABC comedy, Modern Family.

Basically, all she accomplishes is blasting the critics who like the show and blasting ABC for trying to ruin the moral values of a good Christian nation by promoting homosexual propaganda.

From her post:

“the show itself is stereotypical Hollywood propaganda.”

What’s the stereotypical Hollywood propaganda?  Why it’s promoting the gay agenda, of course.  This lady appears to be somewhat riled up over the fact the show depicts a gay couple who have adopted a child.

So, unable to contain her opposing views, she spews the “stereotypical” Christian right rhetoric, such as:

“Mitchell’s dad is less than thrilled with his son’s lifestyle. Writers portrayed him as a bigot.”

No Colleen, of course he’s not a bigot.  Everyone knows if you base your hate and discrimination on the Bible you’re not a bigot…you’re just a good Christian who hates people.

Then of course she brings out the Biblical big guns stating:

(The show) “undermined the truth that kids do need a mother.”

Well, Colleen, perhaps in an ideal world, every child would have a mother and a father.  But wait, what about the over one million homeless children living in the U.S. alone?  I don’t see married couples jumping at the chance to adopt them.  In fact, what I see are the good Christians of this nation holding tea-parties because they don’t believe the over one million homeless children in the U.S. deserve health care.

What about the children who have lost their mother to an untimely death? Should they be forced into the child welfare system until some lovely Christian couple adopts and provides that perfect home? Don’t you think you’re spanking the single Dad’s just a little too hard?

Also Colleen, since we are now fully aware of your opinion that a mother is ALWAYS needed, what do we do for all the other children that don’t have a mother…or one that can, will or wants to care for them?

Can you honestly say it’s better for a child to remain homeless, or in a “government run” (I know how you righties hate anything government run) system that leaves them little if any chance of ever knowing what a loving home is?  Is it better to have those children go hungry?  Is it better for them to NOT ever have the opportunity to increase their life potential by attending a college or university?

Colleen, you need to get a grip.  What you see is in the way you look at it.  Your negativity is not only unjust for the children being denied loving homes, but for the LGBT people who would be great parents providing unconditional love, a safe home, food, clothes, and a chance at a higher education to the children that would otherwise live without.

How selfish are you and where does your God complex come from.  Your opinions are bigoted, you views filled with hate, and your ignorance abounds.

Whether you like it or not Colleen, statistics prove you wrong.  Children that have been raised in LGBT homes statistically grow up with higher rates of education and are extremely well adjusted as adults…the difference between you and them, they are thankful to the LGB or T people for doing their part to make the world a better place.  They are proud of their LGB or T parents who provided an opportunity they otherwise, may have never had…the opportunity to succeed without hate, intolerance or bigotry.

Right Wing Hate Killed a President

September 20, 2009 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

So the vile hate from the right wing lunatic fringe continues, and what’s their goal?  To get rid of President Obama.  Whether it’s racism, Republican ideology, stupidity, greed or a combination of all those plus some, it’s gotten out of hand, and we all know it.

I refer you to a post on Media Matters.  Below is an excpert:

I’ve been thinking a lot of Kennedy and Dallas as I’ve watched the increasingly violent rhetorical attacks on Obama be unfurled. As Americans yank their kids of class in order to save them from being exposed to the President of the United States who only wanted to urge them to excel in the classroom. And as unvarnished hate and name-calling passed for health care ‘debate’ this summer.

The radical right, aided by a GOP Noise Machine that positively dwarfs what existed in 1963, has turned demonizing Obama–making him into a vile object of disgust–into a crusade. It’s a demented national jihad, the likes of which this country has not seen in modern times.

But I’ve been thinking about Dallas in 1963 because I’ve been recalling the history and how that city stood as an outpost for the radical right, which never tried to hide its contempt for the New England Democrat.

Why to those on the ‘right’ hate President Obama so much?  The same reason they hated Kennedy…because he has the real ability to bring change…change they fear.  Yes, the right wingers are hate mongers…but only because they live their life in fear…fear of change.  Perhaps that’s why so many Native American’s were considered savage…perhaps they too feared change the white man was bringing…now, white man has Karma biting them on the ass…and they fear the change a man of color is bringing to the nation they stole.

Viciousness on the Right: Hey, They Just Can’t Help It

September 18, 2009 by James Hipps · 1 Comment

I write a post practically every day that highlights the ‘right’ in this country. I write about how they are racist, because with the exception of very few, they’re white…which is why they don’t like President Obama. I write about how they’re homophobes, which is why they hate the gays. I write about how they’re typically financially well off, which is why people like Rush Limbaugh don’t have to, in his own words, “participate” in an economic recession.

I often refer to them as selfish, self-indulged, self-centered individuals who would rather have tea parties and overthrow the government than allow a President, who is a real leader for change, make the country better for all by providing health care as a given, rather than a luxury.

Sometimes I wonder if perhaps I’m not too harsh. I mean, I really don’t want to reduce myself to the likes of Coulter, Hannity, O’Reilly, et. al. and become entwined in hatred and negativity. But I also wonder what makes people this way. Is it pure greed? Are they afraid they may have to sacrifice so others don’t have to? Are they afraid of giving up their power? Do they think that by oppressing others it secures their lot in life?

Well, I ran across a post, with the same title as above, written by Lewis Grossberger. It talks about the history of right wing nuts. As with family, fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree. I’m fortunate my parents taught me real values. Values of tolerance and acceptance. They taught me the value of knowing, regardless of race, creed or color, regardless of gender or sexuality, all who share this earth are human, an no one should ever have rights that others don’t, or more importantly, no one should be allowed to determine they are better, therefore they deserve more rights.

Now of course, I’m not talking about criminals. Yes, I believe I’m better than someone who murders others, and I do believe criminals should have rights taken away for their misdeeds. But, I don’t think a person’s color, sexuality, gender or physical ability should determine what rights they do or do not receive.  Those things, contrary to what those on the ‘right’ would lead you to believe, are not crimes.

But back to Grossberger’s post. He shows us there is a them and us. Unfortunately, the ‘thems’ don’t get it. They are mean spirited, and their only concern self preservation…at any cost.

Below is an excerpt:

There has always been a significant amount of galloping meanness on the right, the ancestral home of the angry white male, the we’re-rich-because-we’re-better-than-you Ayn Randians and the Mr. Potters of the world.

Traditionally, right-wingers love war and guns and punishment, capital or corporal. Now you can add torture. They hate extending rights or privileges to any deprived group. They’d so much rather crack down upon such. The poor, the minorities, the immigrants, underprivileged folks in general tend to annoy the right rather than stir their benevolent impulses, The right, in short, is a party of pricks.

Not every conservative is a heartless bastard but the majority of heartless bastards are conservatives.

Much of the time, this prickocity has been veiled or repressed. William F. Buckley Jr. was brilliant at hiding it beneath a polysyllabic profusion of pleonasms and Ronald Reagan could crush a union underfoot with a genial wink and a quip. Now it’s front and center.

Great right-wing pricks of history: Joe McCarthy, Calvin Coolidge, Roy Cohn, George Wallace, Richard Nixon, J. Edgar Hoover, Lee Atwater, Bob Grant, Joe Pine, (Ah, who recalls that pioneering prince of prickery? Show of hands?)

In our own era, the species is legion: Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage, Bill O’Reilly, Karl Rove, Lou Dobbs, Michelle Malkin, Rudy Giuliani, Tom DeLay, Pat Buchanan…and of course, the man himself, the one and only Dick Cheney. Actually, most of the latest Bush administration. In Congress, too many to mention. On talk radio, an army. No—better word—a host.

A spirit of open, unbridled nastiness now rules on the right. Where liberals once were derided as hopelessly impractical and befuddled idealists, now the right describes them as power-mad fascists out to destroy America. Conservatives speak happily and joyfully of ruining the Obama presidency and are willing to compromise on nothing. Joe Wilson shouts “liar” at him. Glenn Beck yells “racist.” The birthers scream “alien.” The dumb-as-dirt teabaggers yell “Nazi.” The health-care saboteurs scream that he’s gonna kill granny.

So, here’s the point.  Them and us.  Either you are a mean spirited right wing prick who only feels better about theirself by trampling upon others, or your a compassionate person who know the value helping others and takes pride in trying to maintain a positive influence and make the world better for all.

And perhaps Grossberger is right…some people, are just that way…mean and nasty, because “they just can’t help it.”

Try Getting Back to These ‘Morals and Values’

September 14, 2009 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

Even almost a week later, I still find myself in utter disgust with the blatant racism and ‘proud right wing terrorism’ of those who fall to the right in the GOP.

I’ve said it before, and will say it again…racism is the underlying reason behind white, Christian, Republicans not wanting their child to listen to the President speak about the importance of education.

Case in point…I ran across a post on The Cap Times where the author recalls a time when a small Republican town in Indiana had their school kids walk down to the train station in hope of getting a glimpse of the President…even though the President at the time was a Democrat.

Here’s an excerpt:

Word got out that at a certain time on a particular day, a train carrying President Harry Truman would pass right through town. Our elementary school principal organized the entire school to line up by class to walk to the train depot to see the president.

The train wasn’t scheduled to stop, mind you. But our teachers thought there was a very good chance when the president saw our expectant throng, he would order the train to stop. We hoped Truman would get out and make a speech.

We all walked to the depot in orderly rows. At the appointed hour, the presidential train sped through. Some maintenance worker on the caboose waved. We waved back. Then we all walked back to school.

My story really does show how times have changed. As far as I could tell growing up, the members of my immediate family were pretty much the only Democrats in that conservative little Indiana town. Yet the slightest possibility of glimpsing a Democratic president stirred excitement and respect.

Fast forward to the present day, when schoolchildren have far more reason than we ever did to be excited about a historic presidency. Not only is President Barack Obama the first African-American to be elected president, but he also is an inspirational leader who personifies for young people the possibility of overcoming obstacles and achieving your dreams through education and hard work.

Yet, unbelievably, when the president scheduled a televised speech to deliver that important message directly to America’s schoolchildren, an organized right-wing political attack succeeded in frightening weak-kneed school administrators into banning the speech.

The article, appropriately entitled ‘Teaching Intolerance‘ does a great job of illustrating, by factual account, how the so called ‘morals and values’ of a party have declined to extinction.  The right is always crying about how they want “their country back”.  Well, a good place to start would be trading in racism for respect.

Basically the party which claims to have a patent on ‘morals and values’ has lost site of the word’s meanings.  The words have become nothing more than a crutch to fall back on when seeking a way to excuse the injustices of hate, intolerance, bigotry and racism.  The teaching of respect no longer exist in the Republican world, instead, they teach terrorism and tea-partying.

The same goes for LGBT rights.  Parents are fighting schools that want to implement anti-bullying rules.  They are fighting schools that teach tolerance and acceptance of all people, regardless of skin color or sexual orientation.

Teaching children to hate is a crime.  One that unfortunately because of our nations strong ‘morals and values’ goes unpunished.

What’s the outcome of this?  A perpetuated cycle of bigotry and hate.  Just as an abused child is more likely to grow up to be an abuser than not, a child taught acceptance and love will grow up to know acceptance and love as the real American way of life.

Those who aren’t…are the future Becks, Hannitys, O’Reillys and Coulters.  And speaking of future Ann Coulters…here’s a video of what that looks like now.
