Why the Right Doesn’t Want Universal Health Care or Gay Rights

February 15, 2010 by James Hipps · 2 Comments

I ran across a very short, blunt, direct and correct post on Obamaers.com which states the main reason, if not the only reason, the right wingers don’t want health care reform.

According to the post:

Probably, more than any other reason, universal health care is a leveler..all become equal. All wait their turn for service and receive the same level of service.

America has a huge shortage of doctors, created by the doctors themselves so as to increase their revenues. The first thing the government would have to do is build more medical schools and produce at least twice as many doctors as are graduating today. I can be done of course and should be done.

How about waiting your turn. In first world countries you wait your turn. You don’t wait for critical or emergency care. For those you go immediately in front of the line. And the waits, at least in Norway are not any longer than in America…but its the idea. If you have to wait your turn you can hardly tell yourself and others how special you are , can you.

Plus, in American culture, money is the measure of everything. The more you have the more important you are. In other cultures that is not true. Money in America, gets you the best doctor and an early appointment. It does not in a universal health care system.

Americans who have above average incomes don’t want to lose that privilege..how can they feel better or superior to others if they don’t get the table by the window in the restaurant?

Frankly , I don’t think you right wingers have a thing to worry about…the culture will protect you.

I think this spills over into LGBT rights as well. The conservative right wingers in this country have always been scared to death of equality. They have and will fight, lie, cheat and steal to keep people as “less than” to keep their status as “more than”.

This is why you hear so many tea-baggers and other conservatives spew how they want to “take America back”. They haven’t lost it, they’re afraid they will. They’re afraid of losing their precious “have” status to the current “have nots”. Health care…basic civil rights…it’s all the same, a way to even the playing field, something they’d rather die for than allow to happen.

Bachmann to Join in ‘Prayercast’ Against Health Care

December 15, 2009 by Gay Agenda News Team · 3 Comments

Rep. Michele Bachmann will join members of the religious right in a “prayercast” on Wednesday to pray for defeat the “Government Takeover of Healthcare.” The prayercast is sponsored by the Family Research Council.

Joining Bachmann will be Sens. Sam Brownback, R-Kans., and Jim DeMint, R-S.C., and Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va.

Anti-gay rights preacher Bishop Harry Jackson will also be on hand, as well as Lou Engle, president of The Call to Conscience, which is working to “raise up of an army of spiritual warriors for revival.”

Also at the prayercast: Pastor Jim Garlow, who says gay marriage is a worse threat to America than terrorism.

I wonder if any of these fine Christian folk have ever prayed for the millions of people who don’t have health insurance.

The problem with this whole issue is that it’s been coined as “health care reform”.  The fact of the matter, it’s health insurance reform.

America is the only “advanced” nation on earth where someone can go bankrupt from becoming sick.  Health care should be a right, just like marriage equality.

If Bachmann hates “government run” health care so much, why doesn’t she opt out of hers?

Senate Votes in Favor of Continued Debate on Health Care Reform

November 21, 2009 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

This just in, in a vote that concluded at approximately 8:05 pm EST tonight, the Senate has voted 60-39 in favor of moving forward with the health care reform debate.

What this means is the current reform bill will go up for debate and consideration for a final vote in the Senate. If the bill passes the Senate, then it will go on to President Obama for his signature prior to being placed into law.

There will still be some intense debate, and there’s no certainty at this point the Bill will get final approval by the Senate, but this is still considered to be one more very important step forward in providing health care to tens of millions of Americans who currently do without.

The vote tonight followed a very distinct line according to party affiliation, with the minority Republican party voting against.

Another important result of tonight’s vote is also momentum for health care reform. Several times in the past, health care reform was claim as “dead”. It was declared dead months ago by Right Wing pundits such as Rush Limbaugh. It was considered dead by many who participated in “tea-parties”, and many in the Republican party have previously considered the Bill to be dead. Yet even with doubt and Republican criticism, the health care reform bill has been able to advance further than any other health care reform bill in the past.

Help Alan Grayson Insure a Healthy Future!

Gayagenda.com has joined Mike Rogers of PageOneQ in the effort to encourage folks to help support a groundbreaking member of the US House of Representatives, Congressman Alan Grayson. According to Rogers:

In a fight over what is a very important issue in the gay community, Alan Grayson has been punching back at efforts to water down health care reform. Representative Grayson is the Representative who said of the healthcare debate:

The Republican health care plan: don’t get sick. The Republicans have a back up plan in case you do get sick. This is what the Republicans want you to do. If you get sick America, the Republican health care plan is this: Die quickly!

Grayson has had a few other things to say about those who stand in the way of the progressive agenda. He called Dick Cheney a “vampire,” and said Rush Limbaugh is “one sorry excuse for a human being.”

GOPer’s: Govt Run Health Care Isn’t the Answer

October 21, 2009 by Gay Agenda News Team · 1 Comment

The federal government will spend $15 billion on AIDS treatment alone this year, yet due to the inefficiencies of the public-run program, thousands will not receive appropriate care. In recent years, two patients in West Virginia and five in Kentucky died while awaiting care on waiting lists for the RWCA AIDS Drug Assistance Program. Today there are 247 Americans on waiting lists for livesaving AIDS drugs in eight states. The number is expected to reach 500 by Christmas. Those on the ADAP waiting lists are disproportionately minorities and residents of rural areas.
