Gay-Porn Mogul Hopes to Arouse Interest in Israel

Barack Obama’s administration has introduced a harsher line toward Israel than those of his recent predecessors, more Americans favor a two-state solution, and a U.N. panel has found evidence of war crimes in Israel’s Gaza offensive last winter. The country could really use some positive attention, says filmmaker Michael Lucas.
And he has a simple solution: gay porn. Yes, Lucas is that kind of filmmaker─but that’s no problem for Israel, he told Haaretz:
“It’s free PR for Israel, and it’s much better than the PR they’re getting on the news,” he said during a tour of the company’s expansive second-floor offices, with views of the New York Times building across the street. “The reality is that Israel has only one face to people on the street, and that’s the West Bank and Gaza. All people see in the media is a country of disaster. They get images of a blown-up bus.”

Michael Lucas Gets Ready To Do Ugly Betty

Michael Lucas, the world’s most mainstreamed gay adult star, continues to charter his course for celebrity stardom with an upcoming walk-on role in ABC’s multi-award winning comedy, UGLY BETTY. The show, starring Emmy Award winning actress America Ferrera in the title role, is filmed on location in New York City, which is also the home of Lucas’ production company, Lucas Entertainment. Lucas’ appearance is the first time a porn star will be included in primetime fictional programming, and is a watershed moment for both mainstream and adult film industries.
Lucas won the role as part of a heated charity auction during the 2009 Stonewall Community Foundation Dinner held on June 17, 2009 at the United Nations Delegates’ Dining Room in New York City. When the bidding war was completed, Lucas and other attendees of the event raised $18,000.00 for the foundation.
While the exact details of the character that Lucas will portray have yet to be outlined, he is very excited about this project. On his blog (www.lucasblog.com) Lucas wrote, “It felt great to give all that porn money to Stonewall. And it also felt great to put out a challenge to mainstream TV. How will ABC deal with a porn star on one of its prime time programs? I am curious to see how this will play out. Now, I am not suggesting that my little walk-on will change the world. But I hope it will be one step taking us out of the privacy of people’s bedrooms and onto a larger stage. And I hope the American public will enjoy seeing a porn star as a real person, not just as a hot body.”
Lucas expects to finalize his appearance with UGLY BETTY producers in the coming days.
