From the LA Times:
The Bush administration wasn’t actually secretly trying to prevent liberal activist Tim Robbins from voting for president last Tuesday. If you missed it, Robbins got into a noisy argument with a polling worker after no one could find his name on the rolls of registered voters at his local polling place in New York, even though the actor said he’d been voting at the same location for years. But according to a report from Access Hollywood picked up by MSNBC, Robbins, ahem, went to the wrong polling place.

Rachel Maddow was Made for Television
October 5, 2008 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment
“Her brainpower is just unreal,” says executive producer Bill Wolff, edgily relaxing in his office before all hell breaks loose. “She’s running around you while you’re just going forward.”
They’re talking about Rachel Maddow, host of “The Rachel Maddow Show,” which launched in September and airs weeknights on MSNBC. She’s also the host (since 2004) of the radio show with the same name that’s on Air America. She also blogs for the Huffington Post.
Maddow, 35, is a Rhodes Scholar with a doctorate in political science from Oxford; she wrote her dissertation on AIDS activism in prisons. She’s now writing a book on American militarism since 1989.
Maddow (MAD-oh, rhymes with “dough”) is the latest of a crop of talk-radio hosts — like Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck — who have roosted at cable news. Her show, like theirs, is part monologue, part guest chat, part news analysis, part production number, part puncture-the-enemy’s-thought-balloons.

Sarah Palin Praying Her Way to the White House

According to a post on webtvhub.com.
‘We don’t need to worry about the religion of a political candidate; we need to worry if that candidate believes that God is directing him/her and his/her policies.’
For a political discussion, it’s quite tame and looks at both sides of the issue - whether we should have any business looking into someone’s religious background.
It’s worth looking at in Palin’s case and any other politician’s case, though, because when you’re talking about a political person, religion can influence policies.
You don’t just have someone’s religion when you’re in politics. Religion can influence policies in so many other areas.
I think one of the religion into politics issues is summed up best with this quote: “I can pretty much assure you that not praying enough doesn’t cause [homosexuality].”

Rachel Maddow Gets Her Own TV Show
August 20, 2008 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment
Rachel Maddow, who has been talking and debating politics on MSNBC so often, you may think it’s her show, now has one.
The commentator and host of Air America, will be taking over the 9 p.m. slot following Keith Olbermann, who she often is a subs for on “Countdown.” Olbermann broke the news in what he called a “fully authorized leak” on the website Daily Kos.
Maddow, 35, is now busting into what has commonly been referred to as the boys club at the network, led by Olbermann and Chris Matthews. MSNBC has often been accursed of sexist coverage, especially during the Democratic primaries earlier this year. Maddow, who lives with her girlfriend Susan Mikula in Manhattan and Northampton, Mass., may also be the first openly gay woman to host a prime-time program, which is set to debut September 8th.
Congrats Rachel! We love you!
Rachel Maddow At Top Of TV Show List

MSNBC President Phil Griffin told the Times: “At some point, I don’t know when, she should have a show. She’s on the short list. It’s a very short list. She’s at the top.” Entertained by a lesbian during the day and informed by one at night — are Americans ready for that much lesbian sugar in their bowl? Maddow doesn’t think it’s a problem. “I think Ellen DeGeneres has shown people are ready for her,” Maddow told the Times, adding, “But I will not dance the way Ellen does.”
