Ex-N.J. Gov’s Ex-Wife Against Marriage Equality
January 14, 2010 by Gay Agenda News Team · 1 Comment
The ex-wife of former New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey, who resigned office in 2004 after announcing that he was a “gay American,” has now come out against marriage rights for same-sex families.
“I was raised a Catholic,” Dina Matos told the media. “I grew up in the church, so I believe in traditional marriage between a man and a woman.” Her remarks were quoted in a Jan. 14 Gannett New Jersey article posted at My Central Jersey.com.
Matos praised the outcome of a Jan. 7 vote in which New Jersey lawmakers killed a bill that would have extended marriage equality to Garden State gay and lesbian families. The bill was a lat attempt to secure family parity for GLBT New Jerseyans through the legislature before anti-gay Gov.-elect Chris Christie takes office Jan. 19.
(Sounds like she’s still bitter to me!)
Gay Marriage Rejection is a Disgrace
January 9, 2010 by Gay Agenda News Team · 2 Comments
What happened this week in the New Jersey state Senate was an absolute disgrace. There’s no explanation for it that makes any sense. It never makes sense when elected officials sworn to uphold not only the Constitution, but the rights of each citizen to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness do just the opposite.
This week, with 3 abstentions (talk about cowardly), the Senate voted 20-14 to reject the so-called “gay marriage” bill. It wasn’t even close. You can’t blame the Republicans– all of whom voted against the bill, except for a courageous senator named Bill Baroni from Mercer County. Republicans have always been against gay marriage. They don’t hide their fear and distress of the gay community. They’ve articulated for years that somehow (even though the logic escapes me) granting same sex partners the same legal rights as heterosexual couples via “marriage” would jeopardize and threaten more traditional relationships.

The Time Consuming Headaches Of Bigotry
January 9, 2010 by James Hipps · 3 Comments
I didn’t think it would be long before some of those who fought against marriage equality tried to bow out of the picture.
According to a post on Mercury News:
A vocal gay marriage opponent who volunteered to become a defendant in the case challenging California’s same-sex nuptial ban is now asking to be removed from the case.
and…
On Friday, Tam told U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker that he fears for his and his family’s safety. In his court filing, Tam’s lawyers say the trial will bring him unwanted publicity and expose him to retribution from gay marriage supporters.
Tam also says the case has been more time-consuming and more intrusive into his personal life than expected.
Well, I have a feeling the first part of his “reason” is simply an excuse. Perhaps he may fear same-sex marriage, but he and his family’s safety? Really? I am not aware of anyone being beaten or murdered for being anti-gay, although we all know there’s been more than several acts of violence carried out against LGBT citizens, which would lead me to believe the latter a bit more…that’s it’s simply too time consuming. Perhaps he should have thought of that prior to working to maintain inequality against a minority. This really goes to show the “inconvenience” the LGBT community has caused all the anti-gay bigots. After all, Maggie Gallager, NOM’s leader seems to think that complying to the law when it comes to her anti-gay fight has become a “headache”.
New Jersey Vote on Gay Marriage Fails!

UPDATE:
The gay marriage vote in New Jersey failed by a vote of 14-20 and when equality was defeated, it was met with applause by the anti-gay bigots in attendance.
Another blow to LGBT equality, met with applause. Not a “proud” day for Americans.
According to NPR:
New Jersey takes center stage in the debate over same-sex marriage as the state senate prepares to vote on a bill legalizing Gay Marriage in New Jersey.
The bill, entitled “The Freedom of Religion and Equality in Civil Marriage Act”, is sponsored by Senators Loretta Weinberg and Raymond Lesniak and co-sponsored by Senators Barbara Buono, Teresa Ruiz, Sandra Cunningham and Nia Gill. If approved by both houses of the legislature and signed by Governor Jon Corzine before noon of next Tuesday, New Jersey would be the sixth state to allow same-sex unions.

Possible Vote on NJ Marriage Equality

Contributed by Lyndon Evans:
New Jersey’s state Senate will vote on whether to legalize gay marriage.
State Sen. President Richard Codey has scheduled the vote for Thursday. Codey said Tuesday that the people of New Jersey “deserve the right to a formal debate on the Senate floor.”
Gay rights advocates in New Jersey have been pushing for New Jersey to join them quickly.
Gov. Jon Corzine supports the measure. But Chris Christie, who will replace him on Jan. 19, says he would veto it.
A Senate vote was canceled last month because it appeared the measure was going to fail.
If it passes the Senate this week, it would still need the approval of the state Assembly to be sent to Corzine’s desk.
