Yesterday, Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi appeared on Oprah and spoke about her life, career and marriage. As a huge advocate for everyone coming out at work, regardless of consequence, one thing she says, which I absolutely love; “I knew if I came out there was a possibility I would lose my career, but I didn’t do it for my career, I did it for me to live in my truth.”

No Lesbian Love Loss for Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!

Marcia Brady, Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia Brady in teh 1970’s TV series, “The Brady Bunch” says her lesbian love affair with sister Jan, played by Eve Plumb, never really happened.
Rumors followed that Eve (Jan Brady) was not happy about the accusation and is now refusing to appear at a reunion show on Oprah this fall.
McCormick , who says Plumb and her a great friends in real life, made the joke when she was on tour promoting her book “Here’s The Story.” McCormick said the comment really helped to push the book onto the best seller list.
According to McCormick (Marcia):
I made the crack to be funny — and for shock value. I’m sorry if she took offense.
According to sources however, Eve Plumb (Jan Brady) hasn’t turned down.
“No one from ‘Oprah’ called. We haven’t turned down anything. There is no feud.”
Marcia, Marcia, Marica! She always gets all the attention!

Marketing or Malice? Ted Haggard Sex Scandal
January 25, 2009 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment
The fallen anti-gay tele-evangelist from The New Life Church, who resigned as senior pastor when a homosexual relationship was revealed, is back in the news. It looks like Mike Jones wasn’t the only guy that Ted Haggard was having sex with.
Now it has come to light that Haggard, 52, was also having sex with one of the church’s volunteers. This affair was suppose to be kept quiet. The church paid for the volunteer’s tuition, and some counseling in exchange for a nondisclosure contract stating neither side would talk about it.
Now however, the volunteer has been reportedly talking to a Colorado Springs television station. The current leader of the New Life church, Brady Boyd, believes his motivation is Haggard’s HBO documentary, where filmmaker Alexandra Pelosi humanizes Haggard and makes him look like a victim.
A victim of what? His own lies, hate, intolerance and bigotry, not to mention hypocrisy perhaps?
Haggard is set to appear on Oprah this week. Where we are apt to see this letter and statement from Mike Jones:
Dear Ted:
You have publicly apologized to me. I accept your apology. However, I cannot speak for the millions of proud gay men and women. I hope you understand the anger and sadness that overcame me once I discovered who you were. As a gay man who has fought for gay rights since my early teens, continually being treated as a 2nd class citizen, has never set well with me. I have second guessed myself so many times on my actions that I too have been brought to tears and loneliness. I believe you are a good person and could do so much more, my only sadness is that you have decided to make your comeback so publicly that is will open old wounds and new ones. My best to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Mike Jones
Also, here is a letter Brady Boyd has issued to the church’s congregation pertaining to the events:
Dear New Life Family,
In the days ahead, there will be new press reports of allegations made by a man who knew Ted Haggard through his involvement with New Life Church. This man has decided to speak to the media about his alleged relationship with Mr. Haggard. Since these allegations were first brought to our attention, New Life Church leadership has reached out to him with compassion by providing him with pastoral care, professional counseling, and financial assistance. We did this with the hope that he would experience healing and move forward with purpose in his life.
At that time, he and church leaders agreed that publishing his allegations or our church’s assistance to him would not be in his best interest. This decision was made not as an attempt to conceal wrongdoings, but to protect him from those who would seek to exploit him. His actions now suggest that he has changed his mind.
A few weeks ago, when the news of the upcoming documentary about Mr. Haggard surfaced, this man informed me that he was considering telling the media the details of his relationship with Mr. Haggard. He was obviously upset about the reported content of the documentary and wished to tell his story.
After Mr. Haggard’s fall, we received reports of a number of incidents of inappropriate behavior. In each case, we have tried our very best to do the right thing, including disciplinary action when appropriate. Our concern has been and continues to be for every person affected. We renew our invitation today for anyone who believes he or she has been hurt to please come forward.
Our current elder team and all of our overseers have been aware of these allegations and have given us wise, prayerful counsel every step of the way. I regret that we have to revisit the unpleasant issues of the past, but I am convinced we are on the path of healing and great days are ahead for all of us. Thanks so much for your continued prayers and support.
Love,
Pastor Brady
Mike Jones also issued this statement to Colorado’s NBC-9:
With all the hate I took from so many people I had to endure when I exposed Ted Haggard, I hope all the parents out there say it is a good thing Mike Jones said something. Because if I had not, this would still be going on. And there are others
Most Hateful Messages Come from the “Right Wingers”
January 21, 2009 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment
According to Rev. Bacon, who recently appeared on the “Oprah” show and stated that being gay, as we are born that way, is a “gift from God”, Received quite a bit of feedback. Even though there was a great deal of positive feedback, in fact, according to Rev. Bacon, the positive outweighed the negative 30-1, there was a certain degree of negative backlash.
When Oprah asked the Reverend if he had heard from the “Right Wingers”, he commented that the “most mean spirited emails I received were from Christians.”
Again, hate, intolerance and bigotry at it’s best…and all in the name of God!
