Catastrophic Hatian Earthquake Self Inflicted

January 15, 2010 by James Hipps · 8 Comments

This guy has absolutely lost his mind.  I wouldn’t believe this if I didn’t hear it for myself.  Pat Robertson, the guy who usually  blames the “gays” for natural disasters, has spoken out against the nation of Haiti stating they “made a pact with the Devil” in order to gain their freedom from the French which is what caused the recent earthquake.

This is a clear demonstration and a strong case against allowing Biblical beliefs to be taught in schools.  The Haitians revolted against the French as they were revolting against slavery, but yet this wing-nut insist they have suffered because of their “pact with the devil”.

In Kentucky, Jesus Rode Dinosaurs Around While Hating Gays

July 2, 2009 by James Hipps · 2 Comments

Oh those crazy Religious Right zealots…you know, the Sarah Palin type who believe you can “pray away the gay” and also believe that Jesus rode around on dinosaurs.

Well, in Kentucky, they’ve opened a “creationism” museum that even claims that Noah brought dinosaurs with him on his ark…now that would be some boat.  How big is a zoo?  And you can fit two of every animal on a boat, built by a guy that didn’t even have power tools?  Oh the power of miracles!

Anyway, there is a great post about this over at Americans United for Separation of Church and State.  Here’s an excerpt:

Washington, D.C., is a great city. In addition to all of the wonderful historical and political landmarks, there are a ton of tourist attractions: we have the Spy Museum, the Museum of Crime and Punishment and our very own Madame Tussaud’s wax museum.

Northern Kentucky, however, may have us beat. Petersburg is the home of the nation’s largest Creation Museum.

Since its grand opening in 2007, 750,000 people have passed through its doors to be welcomed by an animatronics display of a young girl feeding a carrot to a squirrel as two dinosaurs stand behind her looking on.

So, in these times, when we all get frustrated with the lies, mis-information and hate for the LGBT community that is so widely spread by the Religious Right, it’s great to have a laugh ever now and then, and this, this is funny!

I Believe I May Have Called This One

May 13, 2009 by James Hipps · 4 Comments

On an earlier post, I predicted that one day, when LGBT rights were the norm and not the exception, that those Right Wing haters would have to find another group to use their Bibles against.  We all know, as history doesn’t lie, that those religious zealots used to use the Bible to preach segregation and oppression of people of color.  That was over 40 years ago, and yes, there is still racism, but it’s no longer acceptable.

I too have dreams.  I wish for a day when all people, regardless of sexuality, will have equal rights.  I hope that in the future, I, along with all other LGBT citizens will not have to face being fired from a job for being gay.  I hope that one day it is legal for me to adopt, as I too would like to provide a home, shelter and a future for at least one of the more than one million homeless children in the U.S.

But, when that dream comes to fruition, and it’s no longer acceptable to use the Bible to to oppress and prevent LGBT citizens from equality…when it’s no longer acceptable to tax-free monies to vote on whether or not tax paying LGBT citizens should have the same rights as all others, there will be a group of people who fall under fire from the religious zealots.

I predicted that it would be Atheist.  Yes, another minority, who will somehow fall under the microscope of the Religious Right…who will be judged by those who according to their Bible, are not suppose to judge.  Is that time coming?  Are they already gearing up for this, and if they are…why?

It looks as though it may be starting, and the why is simple.  If the extremist Christians such as Donald Wildmon, James Dobson, Fred Phelps and Pat Robertson aren’t earning their tax free millions of spewing hate towards LGBT Americans, another minority will have to become their target, which in turn, becomes their cash cow.

Oh yes, please send us millions to fight the evils of Atheism.  Atheist want to teach our children it’s OK to be Atheist.  I can hear it already.  One good thing, for those who are Atheist, they already have equal rights, so unless, as it was with gay marriage in California, voted on to take away their rights, they have a leg up on the LGBT Rights Movement.

Not sure if I’m target with this one, check out the video below!

Vermont Same-Sex Marriage Has Religious Right’s Panties in a Wad

April 8, 2009 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

“Same-sex ‘marriage’ is a movement driven by wealthy homosexual activists and a liberal elite determined to destroy not only the institution of marriage, but democracy as well. Time and again, we see when citizens have the opportunity to vote at the ballot box, they consistently opt to support traditional marriage,” said Perkins.

“The vote today by the D.C. City Council was a direct affront to the federal Defense of Marriage Act. The radical Left wants to destroy the traditional union of one man and one woman across the country and they will not rest until they do so.

“The marriage amendment movement has been many times more successful than the same-sex ‘marriage’ movement,” Perkins said. “FRC will continue to stand with those states which are seeking to pass marriage protection amendments and other measures in order to protect our most fundamental and essential social institution.”

The above quote is just one reaction found on Right Wing Watch about the recent legalization of marriage equality in Vermont. They have quite a list compiled of hate mail sent by Right Wing Nuts. None surprising, yet still amazingly bigoted and shocking.

WND Columnist Compares GLSEN, Day of Silence Participants to Hitler Youth

April 2, 2009 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

In a commentary called “GLSEN and Hitler Youth,” World Net Daily columnist Judith Reisman today compared Day of Silence participants, GLSEN and students who participate in Gay-Straight Alliance student clubs to Hitler Youth. The column was featured on the wnd.com front page.

“Last week at our Lobby Day in Washington, DC, I saw students aglow with joy after having the opportunity to speak directly with their elected representatives and take part in our democratic processes,” said GLSEN Executive Director Eliza Byard. “Today I read a commentary comparing those young people, as well as me and my staff, to Nazis. We can only hope this is some sort of sick April Fool’s joke.”

Reisman’s piece also attacks the National Education Association and the American Library Association, saying they act similarly to Hitler’s National Socialist Teachers Association.

But the brunt of Reisman’s attack is directed at GLSEN and the hundreds of thousands of students will participate in the Day of Silence on April 17 to bring attention to anti-lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender name-calling, bullying and harassment. Students from more than 7,500 middle and high schools participated in 2008.

Wrote Reisman: “Under color of a ‘Safe Schools Movement’ battling alleged ‘bullying’ of so-called ‘gay’ children (K-12), some see GLSEN as a modern version of the Hitler Youth and as preparing the ground for a larger, sweeping, schoolroom Youth Brigade.”

In reality, nearly 9 out of 10 LGBT youth (86.2%) reported being verbally harassed at school in the past year because of their sexual orientation, nearly half (44.1%) reported being physically harassed and about a quarter (22.1%) reported being physically assaulted, according to GLSEN’s 2007 National School Climate Survey of more than 6,000 LGBT students.

Additionally 60.8% of LGBT students said they felt unsafe at school because of their sexual orientation, and nearly a third (32.7%) said they had missed a day of school in the past month because of feeling unsafe.

“Bullying and harassment based on sexual orientation and gender identity/expression is a real and endemic problem in our nation’s schools,” said Byard, who along with several GLSEN student and teacher representatives met with Education Secretary Arne Duncan last week to discuss the problem. “I admire and respect the young people who are trying to make a positive difference in their schools, and am sad to think that anyone would make them the target of this kind of violent speech. We should not lose sight of the optimism, hope and bravery of these young advocates, and the fact that school is still a very dangerous and isolating place for many LGBT youth.”
