Who the Hell is Rush Limbaugh Anyway

As I have been more than consumed in the politcal arena, the one thing that never ceases to amaze me is how the Republicans along with the entire vast religious and right wing cavalry, not to mention the totally and completely unbiased media (choking a little here) seem to hinge so much validity on what Rush Limbaugh thinks and says. Now I realize he may have a following, but exactly who are his following? Could they be the same religious right wingers mentioned above…well, yes, just in case the answer wasn’t obvious.
Now, I want, and I really hope someone will respond with an intelliegent and truthful response. Who the hell is Rush Limbaugh? Here is a man, who started on AM talk radio, does not have a college education, is obese (not to offend anyone, but had to throw that in as gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins according to his supporters) and has been busted on drug charges, is a racist, and does not respect the female gender.
Ok, now, what gives this man title of a political authority? Or better yet, what gives? All I see, is another loud mouth, bigot, who hates the LGBT community, doesn’t believe women should have the opportunity to break through the glass ceilings, in fact, won’t even admit there is a glass ceiling.
Why is everyone so concerned with what this man has to say? I just don’t get it.

Limbaugh: Obama’s nomination “goes back to the fact that nobody had the guts to stand up and say no to a black guy”
Summary: Rush Limbaugh said that “it is striking how unqualified [Sen. Barack] Obama is and, and how this whole thing came about with, within the Democrat Party. I think it really goes back to the fact that nobody had the guts to stand up and say no to a black guy.” Limbaugh went on to say: “I think this is a classic illustration here where affirmative action has reared its ugly head against them.
