The Real Dangers of Sarah Palin & the Right Wing

November 11, 2008 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

From LewRockwell:

McCain is old news, so Palin stands to become dominant in her role of head of the right-wing faction which is probably more numerous than the centrist wing. This means come 2012, Palin will indeed be seen as the de facto leader of the party and especially as the leader of the religious right/culture warrior faction of the party.

Palin will become the leader of the American right-wing. Unless she has a major change of heart, Palin will stand for war, nationalism, the religious right, domestic spying, and massive government of every kind. Her followers will worshipfully follow her anywhere because they see her as the annointed middle-American savior who will lead the GOP to victory against the hordes of urban non-whites, immigrants, Ivory Tower America-haters, and atheists.

She will be re-elected in 2010 as governor, and in 2012 will emerge as the front runner from the right-wing of the party.

Palin will fully employ her country-girl schtick and will rely on active support from evangelicals, rural Republicans, and pro-war factions of the party.

In short, it will resemble the primary of 2000 when George Bush emerged using a country-boy schtick and seized control of the right wing of the party.

In many ways Palin is just George W. Bush without the blue blood, and she will build a very similar coalition. Like Bush she will have lots of clever slogans like Compassionate Conservatism, but virtually nothing will be heard about actually reducing the size of government except as a mantra to discredit “tax and spend liberals.” Like Bush, she will choose a Cheney-like running mate to provide “gravitas.”

A Sweet Good-Bye to an Anti-Gay Try

November 5, 2008 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

Mrs. Palin, please pack your bags and take your prayin’ away the gay self back up to Alaska.  I do believe there are some wildlife that need to be shot. You’re stint as a celebrity is now over and Tina Fey wants to quit playing you anyway. I would like to be able to say that it was a pleasure having you around the past couple months, but I can’t.

I sincerely hope you stay in Alaska this time. We have had a rough enough time with the advancement of GLBT rights…civil rights…human rights, with out another evangelical war monger who wants a federal ban against gay marriage helping us out. So again, Mrs. Palin, go home, take care of your children, your children’s children, and leave the gay bashing to the rest of the religious right. Bye-bye!

Palin: Abortion Clinic Bombers Aren’t Terrorist

October 26, 2008 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

From Right Wing Nut House:

Sarah Palin is refusing to call people who would bomb abortion clinics terrorists. Yes, she condemns their actions. But she is parsing the definition of terrorism so as not to offend that small, but vocal part of the conservative base who may not see clinic bombers as heroes, but refuse to place their actions in a a moral context that equates the tactics of the jihadis with the Eric Rudolphs of the world.

This is moral cowardice. The purpose of bombing abortion clinics (it hasn’t happened in a decade) is exactly the same as fanatics who set off car bombs in crowded markets; that is, to intimidate and to terrorize people.

And from Right Wing Watch:

Brian Williams asked Sarah Palin if “an abortion clinic bomber [is] a terrorist under this definition” and she answered, “Now others who would to engage in harming innocent Americans or facilities, I don’t know if you’re gonna use the word ‘terrorist’ there, but it’s unacceptable, and it would not be condoned of course on our watch.”

As others have noted, it’s disturbing that after 7 murders, 17 attempted murders, 41 bombings, 175 acts of arson and hundreds of cases of death threats, stalking, assault, and break-ins, Palin doesn’t think it’s appropriate to use the T-word.

But what has been mostly overlooked is the fact that the comments by Palin, a self-described “hardcore pro-lifer,” run contrary to the longstanding position of American law enforcement.

Palin and Her Right Wing Extreme Agenda

October 18, 2008 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

Looks like praying away the gay and making abortion illegal (even in the cases of rape and incest) aren’t the only right wing nut stances Palin stands for.  Check this post from mwcnews.com out.

As the McCain campaign continues to focus on Senator Obama’s alleged ties to former Weather Underground member William Ayers, a new investigation in Salon.com sheds light on how Governor Palin’s ties to the radical right are far deeper than previously thought. Journalists Max Blumenthal and David Neiwert detail how Palin was elected Mayor of Wasilla over a decade ago with the help of activists from the Alaska Independence Party and the John Birch Society. They allege that she tried to return the favor later by attempting to appoint one of them to an empty city council seat.

Abuse of Power, Anger and Abortion Politics

October 12, 2008 by James Hipps · Leave a Comment

From the Huffington Post:

On Saturday Gov. Sarah Palin was proving that the huge crowds are mostly interested in extreme right-wing abortion politics by tossing the crowds some red meat, and more lies about abortion. Palin said a vote for Obama is “a vote for activist courts that will continue to smother the open and democratic debate that we deserve and that we need on this issue of life.” She also misstated Obama’s statements and positions on a range of abortion issues.

These are the lies that, because they connect to a core belief for so many, allow all the other lies to to take root and drive the anger and rage we now see on display.
